Nothing could be finer than to look at my calendar and realize a facial with Sima is coming up! Acupuncture is based on a system of channels and meridians in the body which correspond to the internal organs and their functions. When the energy of the body, or qi ( chee ), and blood flow freely through the body, we enjoy comfort and general wellbeing. When stress, diet, congenital conditions or any number of other reasons blocks this smooth flow of qi, pain or adverse conditions can develop. It is the job of the acupuncturist to determine the root cause of the problem and carefully place ultra-thin, sterile needles along the channels to restore the smooth flow of qi resulting in resolution of the problem. Some conditions will see marked improvement in one session while others require several treatments. A chronic condition will typically require more sessions than an acute condition.Acupuncture, thousands of years old, is best used as a preventative treatment. It can restore and maintain balance within the body to prevent adverse conditions from developing. Well...."if I have no complaints, then how do you know what to treat? ", you might ask.
