Ms. Tienken is an exceptional therapist. We began counseling with Ms. Tienken due to her expertise in Imago therapy. She improved the techniques of Imago by juxtapositioning it with other modes of therapy to best suit the patients' needs. Neck pain

Today, neck pain is a serious problem for a number of reasons.  Many of our work efforts are associated with a seated posture.  When the ergonomics of our work are not proper, we distort our posture into a position of strain.  A prolonged effort in this manor produces muscle strain and in turn neck pain.  The neck is prone to injury from movements that are even a slight degree out of normal.  Things like brushing your hair or teeth, jarring movement such as missing a stair, stepping in a hole and so forth.  The bottom line, is that many of these injuries go away by themselves but when they do not you should seek help.  The body heals itself, but not always with a proper alignment of tissue.  This is why after an injury the pain might be gone but you  find the ability to move your neck is limited. ...read more

10 Tips to Healthy Nutrition

Drink 6-8 glasses of good water per day.  A glass of water is equal to 8 oz. Chew your food slowly.  Digestion starts with enzymes released when you chew your food. When you have that craving for junk food or something sweet make a smoothie.  My favorite smoothie has banana, strawberries, blueberries, mango and water.  Adding a powder supplement to your smoothie is a great idea. Eat whole foods!  A whole food is unprocessed and unrefined.  Doesn’t come in a box and less ingredients.  The more raw the better.  In most stores this is the area that surrounds the store.  Once you go down aisles you are in the processed section. What you pay for is what you get.  People are willing to spend thousands of dollars on surgery, but instead they could be spending money on quality foods.  Examples are grass fed beef, cage free chicken, wild caught salmon.  Its all about quality ingredients not quantity. Bulk foods are very inexpensive.  If you are tight on a budget a great way to decrease grocery bills and eat healthy is check out the bulk sections at PCC or Whole foods.  Some of my favorites are lentils, oats and wild rice.  Cost between $1-3 per pound. Eat through out the day.  Keep your blood sugar levels stable, so you don’t have the typical energy crash in the afternoon.  A great snack is raw almonds. Regular Exercise is key. Eat a variety of foods.  Make sure you are trying different foods even when it doesn’t look appealing.   Start by having smaller quantity and work your way up. If this is overwhelming at first, some great advice is add nutritious food and don’t take away.  If you want to cut back on soda, try drinking a glass of water before you allow yourself to have one.  If you want to have your hamburger try adding some vegetable or fruit like an apple.  Eventually your body will learn to enjoy these foods and start to crave these higher nutritious content foods. ...read more
