I had to move out of my apartment 3 weeks ago while it was remodeled and the heating repaired. I chose the Sunset after researching as much as I could from every site I could find that listed places to stay in both Clarkston and Lewiston. I have not been disappointed by my choice of this motel. As has been said in other reviews the place is clean, the rooms comfortable and the management very helpful. I would like to add to what others have said though in that if you are thinking of an extended stay as I was, then talk to Graham and be honest with him. One guest who stayed for 4 days while I have been here wasn't and took Graham's willingness to be flexible as meaning he was a soft touch and found out the hard way that making a promise and then not keeping it leads to being told to leave. I was travelling through Clarkston on my way to Seattle looking for a place to spend the night when I saw this motel. It was the retro 60's look to the place that attracted my attention. It has 60's style service too as I found out when I went to check in. The manager is attentive and listens to you, also if you want you can check out your room before you decide to stay. Now on to the rooms. Each room is it's own separate little cabin style apartment with a covered carport right next to it. The beds are very comfortable, the rooms are clean, and have everything needed for a good stay. Like most places now their WIFI was free but I was surprised that even long distance phone calls are free too. At $45 per night after my discount it was a bargain. I have paid more for much less in the past and the service I got was equal to if not better than places that cost twice as much. Great place and great prices what more can you ask for. I stayed here two nights (2nd & 3rd Nov) and it's exactly as others have said. The managers are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. More importantly the room was spotless and the bed really comfortable, also I can't believe that even though their prices are so low that they offer as much as they do. How many places do you know that don't find something to add on when you leave. As it said on their website the price I was quoted included everything. I stayed here for 8 months. The place went thru 3 managers in that time and the final set of managers were great. Excellent service. clean room, and very comfortable bed,, not hard like the chain motels, but pillowtop matress. Felt like home.It was only 6 blocks to the Snake river in 2 different directions. If i needed anything, all i had to do is ask and it was provided. Feels like a country setting and the new managers are excellent. the only real problem i had was the wifi was slow and had problems. With 10 rooms avaiable, the place had very few nights with any empty rooms. The provided carports were great to keep the stuff in the back of my pickup dry and safe and oh yes, they do have surveillance cameras that cover the property.I felt very secure and safe there ...read more
