Texas Gold and Silver is very knowledgeable in rare and unusual coins. They have a great sellection of circulated and certified coins as well as paper money at a modest price. We had the pleasure of touringThe Adolphuswith its magnificent architecture, European charm, and collection of museum-quality art with our bride-to-be Jency and her mother. Director of Catering&Conference Services, Paula Fenner was our gracious host. Entering The Adolphus is literally taking a walk through history. According to theDallas Historical Society, the Adolphus "was completed in 1912 at a cost of $1.87 million. The city's leaders wanted a grand hotel and approached Adolphus Busch to see if he would build one. The tower on the roof is said to be modeled after a Busch beer stein." Weddings at The Adolphus are a grand affair. When guests pull into the Porte-cochere, they are directed to the Lobby Living Room and up the stairs to the Grand Ballroom Foyer. The Grand Ballroom is decorated with trompe l'oeil celestial paintings and hand-blown crystal chandeliers from Murano, Italy. An ornately carved 1893 Steinway grand piano was once owned by the Guggenheims and was scheduled to travel on the Titantic…luckily it crossed the Atlantic at a later date. Paula Fenner says, "I believe what sets us apart from any other venue in Dallas is our Team and their tenure; 17 years is the average tenure of our Staff. Our Director of Banquets, Douglas Ochoa has been here 25 years and his staff averages 15 – 30 years. What this brings to you and your guests is a perfection of service."
