I took my brand new car here to get tinted out. I had previously had 2 cars tinted out at the South Hills store, so I figured the customer service and quality would be the same. Well that was a bad assumption. All of the windows had a fair amount of dirt in them, but one was super bad. Also, the driver's window had a long scratch in it, along with not being properly trimmed on the top corner. I also noticed the rubber seals on the base of the outside windows had gouges in them. They redid the 2 windows, but claimed that the gouges were factory defects and I would have to take it up with the dealer. Super disappointing service and lame excuses. This will be the last time I take a vehicle there. ...read more

Car Washing In the Sub Freezing Cold

While many car owners avoid washing their car when the temperatures fall below freezing, it might not be the best way to keep on top of your car's care. Most worry that their doors will freeze shut or that their locks will ice over. This may hold true in rare instances but in most cases the advantages of getting the salt off the car outweigh any problems that might arise from washing in sub freezing temperatures. As the owner of Splash Touchless in Pittsburgh, PA, I frequently wash my truck and leave it outside and very rarely experience any problems due to the wash. Here are a couple of tips if you want to wash in freezing temperatures. If your car wash offers both automatic in bay washes and self serve bays, always choose the in bay automatic because this will provide wash packages that will allow most of the water to be blown of your car. Most ultimate and premium wash packages will have drying as an option. If you want to be extra safe take a towel or buy a towel from the vending area and open the doors and dry the door jams after the wash. Obviously, if you have a garage you will want to keep your vehicle in the garage. You can also use the towel to wipe any excess moisture from around the key holes. Because most modern cars have remote lock openers frozen keyholes are less of an issue than years ago. If you want to play it extra safe open and close your doors a couple of hours after the wash to break any water away from the hinges. This will help loosen them before a deep freeze sets in on them. Always remember, a clean car is a happy car. ...read more
