Instructions on How to Wash a Car

Washing your car is a past time that is either relished or avoided. No matter which category you fall into, the fact is you need to wash your car to keep it looking great. It is not difficult to wash your car, but for some, questions remain on how to do it correctly. Read on to find out how.

Gather the following items to wash your car:




  • Hose

  • Buckets

  • Car wash or liquid dish soap

  • Sponges

  • Wheel brush

  • Towels (paper, and microfiber or cotton)



Here are the instructions you should follow to wash your car:




  • Park the car on a level area, and out of direct sunlight.


  • Add car wash or liquid dish soap and water to a bucket.


  • Rinse off the car with clean water from the hose.


  • Use a sponge, and apply car wash to the car.


  • Start at the top of the car, and wash in sections.


  • Continue to rinse the sponge and apply cleaner as you make your way around the car.


  • Rinse the areas you wash as you go.


  • Wash the lowest part of the car last, and use a wheel brush on the wheels.


  • Rinse the tires.


  • Use a clean microfiber cloth to dry off the car.




Washing the car is not difficult, and is a necessary maintenance task that should be completed as often as possible. A clean car looks and often drives better. If you don't want to do it yourself, you can take it to a car wash center. Or, you can always visit a car wash raising funds for charity, or pay a neighborhood kid to do the job for you.
