I had taken in several boxes of books to this place. The women there were thrilled stating that I had the best books they had seen in ages. I was given almost 100 dollars in store credit! They write it down on a little sheet of paper and tell you to bring in the next time you want books. What they don't tell you is that they keep no other record of your transaction. If you happen to misplace their sheet of paper, you are screwed out of all of your credit. They don't even have a notebook to write down customer information. So, here I am trying to work with the owner, and she tells me that is just the way they do business and there is nothing that they can do for me. I am truly dissapointed. I'm sure they aren't, because they received loads of wonderful books they are making a profit on, while I can't even get them to credit me back half of what they originally agreed to. If you are considering opening up a used bookstore you will have to go out and locate many books before you open up your store. You want to have a good selection of books on various topics so that people have plenty to choose from. Finding the books can be a challenge, but not impossible. ...read more
If you have written a book and sold some copies to independent bookstores and national chains, you should consider having a release party.
