Buxton Feed Senior Horse Feed on SALE!

We have our special blend of Seniopr Horse on sale this month for $12.99 per bag, which is a .75 cent savings. The formula for this feed was design by our customers who wanted a senior feed that delivered the needed protein, but without sticky molasses and a list of ingredients that contain real whole grains and actual hay. so our feed have Eastern Oregon alfalfa&orchard grass hay that is ground on site in our mill.  The grains start out as whole corn & oats, that is also ground.  The oats are from local farmers as supplies are available.  We choose the Madras are for our hays as there is a lot of sunshine there and it adds a lot of protein to the product for hays. We then add beef pulp, rice bran, and a special horse vitamin & mineral mix to round out the ration.  This mix has been used by a lot of folks in the Banks area and they are very pleased with the out come. ...read more

Recylced Material for Horse & Animal Bedding

Here in the Pacific Northwest we produce tons of grass seed that is used for lawns, golf courses and is shipped around the world. Within the process of making the seeds available for sale the harvested grass goes through a cleaning process to remove stem stubble, seed hulls, weed seeds, and other items that are not grass seeds. The waste from the cleaning process, called grass seed screenings, is sometimes dumped in the woods, or landfills, or used as a feed additive, or feed straight to any livestock will eat it.During the winter of 2006 there was a shortage of burning pellets for wood stoves on the west coast, so a lot of folks then turned to wood bedding pellets for burning in their wood stoves. The prices then rose to high levels and they continue to be expensive. So we then started looking at making a pellet out this material for stall bedding. Well the horses thought it was food and it did not go over so well with the Equine community. We had several horse customers who were determined to make them work and together we were able to make a pellet and a process that allows this to be used as a bedding, and not much of it being eaten by the horse. The contents of the pellet contain nothing that can hurt the horse if digested. The process that is being used is the following: Clean out he stall of all old bedding Place 5 to 6 bags of bedding material in the middle of the stall Wet down the bedding material with a lot of water to allow the pellets to break down and burst. Muck the stall daily to remove manure, and add more bedding as required This should last for 4 weeks or longer depending on your horse and the cleaning routine There is 100's of tons of this material available each summer through the following spring. The finished product retails for $145.00/ton or $125.00/ton for a semi load. We have named the product "Do-Do Little Horse Stall&Animal Bedding pellets" and it is a 40lb bag. This product also has Stall Dry added to it to help with oder control and can be used for any animal species as a bedding/litter material. Some of the advantages of this product are: All organic material Should break down into a nice compose a lot faster than wood It is weed free, as any good seeds become sterile through our high heat pelleting process It's extremely affordable to use Visit our website at www.blackangus-farms.com for our mailing address, contact numbers, and hours of operation. ...read more

Screening Pellets are here!

The 2007-2008 season is on in our area for grass seed screening pellets.  We also make a new product from grass seed screenings called "Do-Do Little Horse3 Stall & Animal Bedding Pellets".  We have increased our storage capability so that we can this product available during the non-cleaning months of April-May-Jun-early Jul.  The prices for the animal feed pellets is the same as last year, but our beeding pellets have increased in price to $145.00/ton or $2.99/ bag.  The bedding pellets contain Stall Dry to help in the control of oders, and keeping the material fresher longer.  We are more stall dry this year to control the horses from eating the bedding.  Even though everything in the pellet is food grade, we like to have them stay on the floor to control the manure issue.  Also, since this product is made of materials that break down faster in the environment, you should be able to spread this material back on to your pastures within months. TOP SECRET INFORMATION: To help in keeping the horses from eating the pellets, a lot of our customers are finding that if they wet the pellets down real good and get them to break down, the horses tend to leave them alone. Our BFC Senior Feed has really taken off this past season with more sales.  A lot of folks are getting tierd of paying over $12.00 for a senior feed, as ours is priced at just $10.95/bag.  Our feed contains Alfalfa hay, grass hay, corn, oats, beef pulp, and rice bran.  Our pellets are small in diameter, making it easler for the horse to eat them. ...read more
