I had facial all over the world over the years. A family friend recommended Robin, so my mom, sister and I made the drive to Cincinnati from Columbus. Robin was honest, told me the state of my skin and how to improve it. She was professional and made affordable recommendations for keeping my skin in the condition she left it. I also got my eyelashes tinted which lasted much longer than any previous tint I had applied. We will definitely be back. ...read more

Do you really know your skin type?

I will begin my first blog identifying inflammation or sensitive skin.  A condition typically self-diagnosed due to skin that feels prickly, tight, itchy, dry patches and may even have red blotches. The term 'sensitive' is very often used incorrectly and can be misunderstood in terms of treatment and product selections. Most dermatologist agree that sensitive skin is a reflection of one's environment, lifestyle and physiology.  Things such as pollution, stress, hormones, cosmetics, climate, alcohol, diet, medical procedures and other factors can each lead to sensitized skin.  Sensitive skin is actually defined as skin that displays an increased reactive response to substances that are otherwise tolerated by the general population.  And, although each of the factors that are listed above, can be addressed individually and controlled, continued exposure to any of them can result in inflammation that can lead to more serious skin disorders and premature aging. For many years, manufacturers have used the term 'sensitive' as a description of skin that is highly reactive and displays allergic responses to common ingredients.  These manufacturers identify sensitive as a skin type.  The problem is that often one's skin is not correctly treated, so problems persist and may sometimes worsen.Correctly naming a skin condition is the first step to understanding and treating it.  Faces by Robin offers thorough and comprehensive skin analysis, at each visit, prior to any treatment.  Skin is never just one type; but an array of changing conditions, and therefore a moving target.  I find that a brief 5-10 minute visual and tactile exam at each visit becomes the basis for an informed and effective treatment plan.Faces by Robin is located at 7831 Kenwood Road.  Suite #17 at The Salons @ Kenwood Place.Cincinnati, Ohio 45236.  By appointment only.  Hours are:  Monday thru Friday 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.  Call(513) 807-3192 to schedule an appointment!Robin Townsend, LE is a licensed Medical Esthetician with fifteen years of hands-on experiance and training in skin care.  She has been employed with some of the largest medical practices in Cincinnati.  She has also been a freelance Make-up Artist with several major cosmetics companies. She is also trained and certified in eyelash extension application, camoflauge make-up application and permanent cosmetics.  Additional services information may be obtained at:www.facesbyrobin.vpweb.com ...read more
