Stereo Shop

My husband got me a remote starter in 2011. My car is manual transmission and no one else in town will touch them because you have to override a safety feature to install, but the Stereo Shop assured him they were trained and able to do this. The remote start they installed was done improperly and after 3 trips back to let them "fix it" I asked for our money back. I had brought my car to the dealer I bought it from and the mechanics there said that Stereo Shop had messed with the wiring in a way that they wouldn't touch and for me to bring it back to be uninstalled by SS. Christopher Brent, the manager, was a real gem of a customer service leader, told me that we could only have store credit if we returned the starter. Had to go through the Better Business Bureau to get our money back, but Brent delayed it over a month. Buyer beware! Hopefully I can save at least 1 person from this establishment by writing this. Good luck shopping! ...read more

Remote Starters

Well, welcome to the long cold winter.  Our phones have been ringing off the hook with questions about remote starters for cars and trucks.  We are having a sale now on them or $149.  We hope to get people who want them, to get them early.  This way they can take advantage of them for the entire season, instead of waiting until after christmas.  We feel like we provide a higher level of install than you get anywhere else in rochester.  We have seen over 6 business who installed remote starters go out of business in the last 2 years.  We feel it was because of the poor quality of the installs and the undertrained installers.  I mean, who wants a 17 year old kid tearing into your $30,000 to $80,000 car ignition? The "experts" at circuit city were not allowed to touch certain cars and the other big box store can't work on any 2009 or 2010 model, let alone any luxury cars. When it comes to quailty work, look no further and catch us at either of our two stores. Only in Greece and Webster. ...read more

How many people can open your doors?

Re-key locks for new home or business It's happened all too often; a person moves into their new home or business and forgets to re-key the locks. How many people can open your doors?  Many others may have extra keys; previous owner, their family or friends, real estate agent, cleaners, maintenance, ect. The main reason to re-key a home or business is to ensure that you are the only one with keys. Re-keying is not an expensive procedure and it usually only takes a few minutes to change several locks. Re-keying a lock should not be confused with replacing a lock. You do not need to replace the locks in your home or business to lock out the previous key. A locksmith simply removes your existing locks and disassembles the lock cylinder (the area that accepts the key) and discards all the old pins. New pins are installed that match the new key and at that time the lock cylinder is inspected, tested and lubricated to assure that the key will turn smoothly. After completing this procedure the lock is then reinstalled back on your door guaranteeing that the old key will no longer work. ...read more
