Understanding SAD (seasonal effective disorder) and What Can Help

What are the symptoms of SAD: Feel sad, grumpy, moody, or anxious. Lose interest in your usual activities. Eat more and crave carbohydrates, such as bread and pasta. Gain weight. Sleep more but still feel tired. Have trouble concentrating. Symptoms come and go at about the same time each year. Most people with SAD start to have symptoms in September or October and feel better by April or May. Experts aren't sure what causes SAD. But they think it may be caused by a lack of sunlight. Lack of light may: Upset your "biological clock," which controls your sleep-wake pattern and other circadian rhythms. Cause problems with serotonin, a brain chemical that affects mood. This effects a greater percentage of woman than men. Found to occur in people who live farther away from the ecuador. You are most suseptible between the ages of 15-55. Testing by your doctor can eliminate other causes such as Thyroid Disorder, Depression or Mental State. A study published Nov. 1st 1995 in The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine by Michael Terman, PhD. and Jiuan Su Terman, PhD. found that with exposure to high density negative ions 58% of the 25 participants in this double blind study of 30 mins. of daily early morning treatments of high density negative ions experienced relief from symptoms of hypersomnia, hyperphagia and fatigability. I'm familiar with two products the Amethyst/Tourmaline Mats and Qauntum Energy Pads by Richway International that produce a high level of negative ions and far infrared and are FDA approved as a medical device. I've used these myself and with my clients with tremendous success at many levels. Paul Youngquist, LMT. ...read more

Antibiotic Resistance

The microbes are getting smarter than our single shot narrow corridor antibiotics. Microbes - viruses, bacteria even fungus are all linked together like the Borg on Star Trek, they are interconnected and always communicating with one another. Microbes can easily mutate against a lab produced pharmaceutical or antibiotic because it will always contain the exact same ingredients and lab design. The microbes will always find a way to survive against such standards. Their interconnected nature is the survival mechanism for their species. So, it has come to pass that antibiotics much because of their over use in livestock are antiquated and downright dangerous.    There is a solution though and it comes directly from a source that inhibits a microbes ability to adapt, mother nature. Plants, flowers and trees have blood (oil) with constituents similar to our human chemistry and function much likeligandsin our bodies. The oils contain hormones, transmitters, enzymes, vitamins and antibiotics. The effects of these essential oils can be detoxifying, cleansing, balancing, mood enhancing, cleansing to nerve receptor sites and immune enhancement. The oils have a lock and key system of messaging which is the intelligence to respond to the most needed area in a body. Essential Oilsare extracted using low temperature and pressure to best preserve all the properties. All the properties in the oils haven't even been identified to date which is another reason why a lab can never replicate anything in nature because there are to many unknowns. Some properties that have been identified with notable benefits are terpenoids, alcohols, esters, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, flavonoids, carotenoids, steroids, coumarins, saccharides, monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes, oxides and lactones. Then like I mentioned previously how essential oils always very in outcome because of seasonal variations and microbes can not adapt this is called “Chemo Types” it’s like vintage is to wine.  So, this is just kind of a primer in essential oil science. I will dive into the subject deeper in a future offering. ...read more

Anyone Can Claim to Be Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils.

With the Seed to Seal Process Only Young Living Can Claim Young Living Therapeutic Grade™. The process Young Living uses when planting, cultivating, harvesting, and distilling a batch of oil is crucial to retaining its vital compounds. Without the exact blend of naturally-occurring plant chemicals, an essential oil can lose its beneficial properties and fail to produce the desired effect. Young Living Therapeutic Grade (YLTG) means that every essential oil Young Living distills or sources has the optimal naturally-occurring blend of constituents to maximize the desired effect. Young Living is able to make this assertion because of our strict cultivation process—illustrated by the Four Ps—that guarantees the optimal potency of every Young Living essential oil.http://tinyurl.com/bp79znc Plants An oil's potency can be affected not only by selecting the proper plant to cultivate, but also by where the plant is grown, the quality of soil in which the seed is planted, and even the time of day it's harvested. Young Living has extensive experience selecting the correct species of plant for desired oil potency, planting under optimal conditions, using ideal soil and natural methods to encourage growth, and knowing the precise time to harvest each crop. Only those plants that produce the most active and widest array of therapeutic compounds are selected.http://tinyurl.com/bp79znc Preparation Once the optimal soil, plant, cultivation, and harvesting conditions have been adhered to, the plants must be distilled properly in order to meet Young Living Therapeutic Grade standards. Young Living uses a gentle, proprietary technique for steam-extracting the most potent essential oils, which remains unmatched throughout the essential oils industry. To meet Young Living Therapeutic Grade distillation standards proper temperature must be maintained throughout the distillation process, and pressure, length of time, equipment, and batch size are strictly monitored.http://tinyurl.com/bp79znc Purity Young Living Therapeutic Grade standards prohibit the acceptance of any diluted, cut or adulterated oils. Every product Young Living produces—essential oils, oil blends, nutritional supplements, or personal care—meets strict purity standards. Every batch of essential oils is subjected to rigorous, state-of-the-art analysis at the Young Living chemistry lab. Using some of the most advanced equipment in the world, our scientists subject every batch of essential oils to Gas Chromatograph and Mass Spectrometer testing, and heavy metals analysis. Oils that exhibit even the slightest hint of possible adulteration or tampering are rejected.http://tinyurl.com/bp79znc Potency The culmination of the preceding three stages, Potency means that the naturally occurring compounds contained in each essential oil product are of the highest and most consistent bioactive levels. Without strict adherence to the Young Living Therapeutic Grade standard in the Plant, Preparation, and Purity phases, the final product would not have the necessary potency to create the desired effect.http://tinyurl.com/bp79zncWatch Video on the four "P" ofYoungLiving Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils ...read more
