Book-X-Change

I love the atmosphere of the place and the staff...always know what books you need. However, they sell/rent books at high prices and then offer very little in buy back. I once bought a book for about $80 and next year wanted to sell it back to them ( I knew the professor was keeping the same book and edition) they offered me $6.00!!!! It was in the same condition as when I bought it, I expected $20, they still would have made a $60 profit. $6.00 was an insult. I say all students should buy books online at chegg or amazon well in advance if they want to save money.....if not, Book X Change is a descant last minute stop. DO NOT SELL YOUR BOOKS TO THEM, sell them to friends or online. you get at least double the amount. ...read more

I really enjoy going into this store mostly for home decor and incense. Such a great selection of unique tapestries, books, oils, and jewelry. However, their prices are on the high side. Additionally, although I greeted the store associate ... ...read more

When you're on a budget, where should you spend your money?

When most of us go shopping, we have a specific amount of money that we can spend. When shopping for high-quality office furniture the price can get pretty high, pretty fast. So what should you spend your money on? The first thing to look at are your job duties. Do you sit in your chair at the front desk all day? Are you in and out of file cabinets? Do you need a large surface to spread your work out on? Or do you need a lot of storage space where you can hide things away, easy to grab within a moments notice? In the 19 years that I've been working, the things that have annoyed me the most are: 1. File Cabinet drawers that won't open or shut easily 2. Chairs that are broken or so uncomfortable that they seem to have been designed for the Inquisition 3. No place to put papers that I'm done working with That being said, I personally think filing cabinets rank at the top. If you're choosing between a high-quality cabinet with good bones or a lower-quality cabinet that's not as sturdy, get the sturdier cabinet every time.  Some of those run $700 or more. There's a solution for that, too. Check out your local pre-owned office furniture stores. You'll save a bundle and save on stress at work too. How many chairs can you fit around a conference table?

When you know how many chairs usually fit around a conference table, you can make sure you don't order too many.  You can also figure out what size table you need if you know how many people you have to fit around it. An easy way to figure this out is by the size of the table.  With an oval, boat-shaped or rectangular table, you can fit the same amount of chairs as the length if the table.  That is, a 10-foot long table can fit 10 standard conference room chairs around it- 4 on each side and one on each end.  If you're more into math to figure it out, figure that each chair will need or take up a 2 1/2-foot width of table space. If you don't want to put chairs on either end, get two less chairs.  That would be 4 chairs for a 6-foot table, 6 chairs for an 8-foot table, 8 chairs for a 10-foot table and so on. Unless you get oversized chairs, this will give each chair the space it needs and will help you to determine the size table you need.  Have meetings that typically have 15 people in attendance?  Get a 15 or 16 foot table. Make sure you have a minimum of 4 feet between the table and your walls on all sides (for the chairs to come out and in), and you're all set. ...read more
