I've shopped this bookstore from it's tiny inception and it's a remarkable place to shop. But, it's always been behind the curve in technology. The books are not inventoried and the stores are not computerized to integrate with each other. So you have to phone each store to find out if they have a specific book.\n\nGenerally the clerks are very gracious, nice and helpful. The store is clean and roomy with lots of comfortable sitting. There is no wifi, however and sometimes the store seems a bit too dark.\n\nSome of the books are over priced and yet they only give you a pittance on a trade or buy.\n\nBut it's a fun place to shop and from time to time you can find some good buys. Today I shopped at 2 different DAV stores. The first one was a complete pleasure (located off of 235) the one on Central was horrible. \t\nBoth women working in the store were very rude. I wanted to try something on and she acted put out that she had to let me in the dressing room.\t\nI wanted to buy a small side table and carried it to the front. She told me I had to carry it back to where I got it and bring up only the tag. \t\nI am the customer. I am the one that pays your salary. If you don't like your job...then don't work there. \t\nThe owners of the store, or at least the store manager need to check your employees attitudes.\t\nThey should at least say, "thank you" when a customer decides to spend their hard earned cash in your store, not give you attitutude. ...read more

The person who has frequent nights of not being able to sleep will eventually, experience loss of appetite, restlessness, tiredness and unable to concentrate, and discomfort within his or her body, such as headaches and abdominal pain and indigestion and other symptoms. Stress can be a factor in causing one to not be able to sleep. Here are some helpful tips on removing the underlying cause of sleepless nights: Control as much stress in your life as possible. Schedule work ahead; plan as much of your work to lighten your workload. Eat small meals that are nutritious if you are not hungry but have not eaten. Drink nutritious beverages and water to maintain fluid intake. Try to prevent stressful situations when it is possible. It is unhealthy to withhold things within your mind if you are unhappy with someone. It is OK to have a personal conversation with respect to the other person who is making you unhappy. Try to find things to relax your mind. Relationship Make sure you are not the problem in your relationship. In a relationship, the other person should always be the center of your attention. 1. Listen 2 . Comfort 3. Encourage 4. Speak kind words The other person should feel that when they are with you, the two of you become one force that nothing can resist. There is nothing the two of you cannot conquer. You need to feel the same about the person you are in a relationship with. At 5:00 a.m., I was awakened by a horrible storm. Tornadoes were said to be wrapped in rain and air traffic was halted. People were reportedly stranded in airports. The streets and highways were not suitable for traffic, according to a weather report. My plans for my trip would take a miracle for me to get to my destination. This trip is one of importance; it is our annual extravaganza. I am the sponsor and speaker. This is a 4 day event of fun and excitement: Fashion & Talent show, Musical, Items for sale, door prizes, Games, and lots of food and drinks. Today is Thursday. My plans were to leave at 5:00 a. m. I have several vans packed with equipment and other things needed for this event that is scheduled in the great state of Texas! My family is asking, “Shall we start unpacking?” They believe it is hopeless. “The storms are not going to allow us to travel.” I am not ready to give up. So, my decision was to wait until 8:00 a. m., and see if it is possible for us to leave. While we are waiting I am praying for a miracle. The rain stopped completely at 9:00 a.m., the weather report informed of scattered thundershowers ahead. We left Kansas at 10:00 a.m. There were some lightning and thunderstorms along our journey. We arrived in Texas in the very late evening; thankful to God for a safe trip, a nice hotel and good Texas food to eat before retiring for the night, and looking forward to a great event with family and friends, and meeting lots of new people and old friends. My Speech: The Storms of Life On the first night of this event, I opened with a prayer and testimony. Everyone has a story to tell. I want to hear their stories. Many of their stories were very sad ones. My purpose is to listen, and to determine how best I can help each person. After listening to their stories, I chose to speak about The Storms of Life. Storms will come and there is nothing we can do to prevent them. However, we can pray and patiently wait for God to get us safely through the storms. Just as the weather related storms cause disasters and harm and will halt our plans. So does the things that occur in our lives; such things as sickness, accidents, loss of financial income, divorce, problems in relationships, family problems and other reasons for unhappiness. We have a choice; give up or endure. Hope comes from prayer. It gives us strength to endure and to persevere. “He gives power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increase strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up With wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40: 29-31 (King James Bible) __ Ellen J. If you are considering opening up a used bookstore you will have to go out and locate many books before you open up your store. You want to have a good selection of books on various topics so that people have plenty to choose from. Finding the books can be a challenge, but not impossible. ...read more
