Integrated Flooring Solutions

By mdmann

I had the pleasure of working with the team of Integrated Flooring Solutions on two bathroom projects and a backsplash in my kitchen. Dave and Chad were more than helpful in assisting me in the selection of just the right gray plank tile for my bathrooms and a beautiful subway tile for the kitchen. Everything from ordering to installation was done professionally and on-time. My house was always cleaned and left just as it was before work each day. The project turned out beautiful. I also had an emergency water situation in my basement. Integrated was there to assist quickly to tear out old carpet and install new from a remnant I already had. I highly recommend this company, their team and multiple flooring options from which to choose - for residential or commercial projects. --M. Mann, Indianapolis ...read more

Floors To Go

By Srini C at Customer Lob

Floors to Go did the whole house for me and started in March. There was a miscommunication between Floors to Go and their subcontractors about the shoe molding and measurements so the job was not completed until July. At one point, early on, I had to go out of the country and it was hectic having to wait and call for the subcontractors to come finish the job. One of them had a family emergency so I understand that but I had to call and call and call to learn what was going on. I was not very happy with that. After three weeks, certain areas of the floor feel bumpy or raised. When I would ask the installers questions about it, they acted as if they knew nothing. They did ask some of my questions but I thought they would be more knowledgeable. I'm not a professional in this so I can't say for certain why the floor is doing it and the guys at Floors to Go told me not to worry about it. During the project, they only sent two people out each time for a job that needed four people. I could tell if it were a smaller project like one room but they could only do so much for a large project. My husband also had to get lumber and stain because they sent us white wood--none of that was part of the agreement. We're usually very generous with our opinions and recommending services but this time, we were not that pleased. It was kind of hectic for us so I would say they were average but not outstanding. ...read more

Floors to Go was the most reasonably priced business that we found for our new hardwood flooring. Our salesperson, Chris, was very knowledgeable and helpful in our product decisions. Now that the project has been done, we're very happy to have hired them. The crew that came to install showed up on time and were ready to work. They were committed to doing a good job and had good attention to detail. They answered our questions and completed the flooring on time, as expected. We were also happy with the prices and would recommend them. ...read more

Floors to Go was wonderful! Chris, especially, was really good. It was a new house so we had to pick out carpeting and other flooring. We went in on a spur of the moment after the builder recommended them to us and Chris just jumped in--we weren't even his account. He helped us get everything done and never pushed us off. He spent a lot of time with us and that really goes a long way. ...read more

My wife and I had our home completly recarpeted by Carpet Values Inc this month and are completly satisfied. We were dealing with six different carpet/flooring dealers in the Indianapolis area and chose to go with Carpet Values. We made a good choice. Dave was the employee who stayed with us thru start to finish. With 25 years in the business he was knowledgable, as well as professional. He helped us choose the right carpet as well as carpet pad. He came out and measured are flooring accurately, (more than I can say about some of the other dealers). It is very hard in today's world to find reputable businesses you can trust. Thru a month of true diligence I finally found one I can truely recommend. ...read more

Floors To Go

We had water damage, so we hired Floors to Go to replace the hardwood in our kitchen, dining room, and another large area in our home. The sales representatives were extremely helpful. They took the time to match the wood we were about to buy with the wood that we previously had. They were able to get all of our requests in. We had no trouble at all with that part of the service. The installers, on the other hand, were not as experienced as we would have liked. They didn't finish certain parts of the job right. When we first mentioned it to the installer, he told us that that was how it worked. In the end, they came back to take care of some of the details we were looking for, and they did a nice job at that. Because of the size of the project, everything was completed in six weeks. This includes the time we had to work with our insurance company. Overall, our experience with Floors to go was very good. We have no complaints with the sales people or the location where we purchased the materials, and the installers followed up, so we appreciated that. We would recommend their services. ...read more

We purchased carpet from Floors To Go for our bedroom and walk-in closet. When we were looking at our options, Jennifer took the time to walk us through the possibilities as far as quality. She was very polite and even went so far as to show us material in the back. We are very happy with our experience with her and the installation. We would use them again. In addition to the work they did for us, Jennifer sent us a thank you note. I called her back because I was hoping she could give us a recommendation for carpet cleaning. Not only did she refer us to a company that did a wonderful job, but she also gave us a coupon for a discount on the the cleaning job. Floors To Go really provides you with great service and great installation. ...read more

The process of getting new flooring from Floors to Go Chris Campbell was just great! We got good advice on the type of flooring to serve our needs best, Alloc and carpet, for specific areas. We really are enjoying the wide plank slate-look laminate by Alloc for our high traffic areas and the carpet for living room and bedroom. Chris was very attentive to our time schedule since we had the interior painted, too. He was very helpful in coordination which we so appreciate. The installers were very competent...on time, tidy. We would DEFINITELY choose Floors to Go again and recommend Chris to others. ...read more

We initially ordered bamboo flooring through them. Unbeknownst to us or Chris, our sales person, the distributor switched the flooring around. We called them and they got on it quickly and got us a new, beautiful floor. What we thought would not be a positive experienced turned out to be fine. We also ended up ordering carpet from them, and we did a big chunk of our upstairs. We would definitely go back if we needed more flooring, we are really pleased and it looks beautiful. ...read more

I went in one time and talked to Chris Campbell, and checked out some flooring. I went back in a second time and was able to get a hold of Chris again. He set us up with some good options, took his time, and didn't pressure us. We were able to buy the flooring right then. When the floors came in we were missing a few pieces. I had to go back over and Chris helped us get them replaced. We then had a few issues with some of the transition pieces not being correct. Chris helped us again, he got the money refunded and the pieces sorted out. He was great to work with and the floors turned out great. ...read more

Brief History of Rugs and Carpets

Rugs and carpets have a rich history, only part of which is known. Ancient rugs are very rare because the earliest rugs were made of organic fibers. Organic fibers disintegrate speedily over time, thus preservation over thousands of years is extremely rare. What we do know is that the art of weaving is very old and dates back thousands of years.    Weaving began with rough, simple mats and baskets made of grasses, reeds, leaves, and other natural materials. The first true ‘rugs’ were probably rough cured skins used as floor coverings in the homes of early hunters. With tough, flexible backing and generally soft material (called ‘pile’), these rugs served to keep the home more warm and insulated.   There is evidence for weaving and the existence of rugs in ancient Mesopotamia and Turkey as far back as 7000 and 8000 B.C.E., and in Egypt (wool and cotton) as early as the third millennium B.C.E. Mongolia and China were also main players in the textile industry, and nomadic herders and Chinese weavers were among the first to develop and weave wool rugs.   Weaving developed in many other parts of the world in addition to Europe, including parts of the Americas as far back as 5500 B.C.E. Weavers began to use natural colors and gradually transitioned to using vegetable, flower, and insect materials.    Silk development in China, the ornate, intricate embroidery and designs of Turkey and Mongolia, and the development of more sophisticated looms and weaving techniques throughout the world lifted rug-making from necessity to art form.   Italian merchants first brought oriental rugs to Europe, where they were used as wall hangings and coverings. By 1600, France had developed a dominant weaver’s guild, and England wasn’t far behind. The 1700′s marked England’s emergence into the weaving industry, and by about 1830, a good portion of the wool produced in England was used for carpets.   Various machines were created to aid the process of weaving, and looms have become so sophisticated today that they run off of computer algorithms. Rugs were not widely available in the US and Europe until the onset of mass production and the invention of industrial grade machines.    The first steam-powered loom appeared in 1787, and by 1876, the invention of the Axminster loom, a machine that permitted unlimited use of color and design, boosted the production of carpets. The advent of synthetic fibers and tufted carpet (carpet manufactured by the insertion of tufts of yarn through a carpet-backing fabric) made mass production and purchase of carpets easier, faster, and less expensive. http://www.fastfloors.com/   Copied with permission from: http://plrplr.com/26148/a-brief-history-of-rugs-and-carpets/ ...read more

Flooring Underlayment

Sub-floor types are many and varied. All three types of flooring in your question can be installed equally well on many types of sub-floors. Concrete installation, concrete slab generally are glued using water proofing mastic glues are designed for this type of installation. Plywood, O.S.B. or floating over existing - joist or nailed to existing flooring are all possible. Solid wood planks can be used on joist systems only. Engineered or laminate can not! Plywood or O.S.B. sub's can only be nailed to or stapled as well as click in place floating systems. These are also good candidates for glue installation. The most important feature is to evaluate your specific sub-floor. Stability - soundness - above or below grade.
