The Owl's Roost Bookstore & Coffeebar

Owl's Roost provides a respite for those coffee drinking, book-loving conversationalists who lack another place of the sort in Lincoln. The shop is decorated nicely, and the idea and intent behind it is right on target. However, there are a few things that are missing. After conversing with other locals who were initially excited about the opening of the OR, here is what we think: A)When you walk in, it smells like cigarette smoke, not coffee. There is just something about the intense smell of coffee that makes people happy. If you get the odor of stale smoke in its place, you will lose interest. B)The coffee tastes like the smell. I HATE to say this because I want OR to succeed, but I cannot help but admit, the coffee is not very good. C)Where is the music? There is no music. Just silence. This is awkward when trying to converse with others when you may be the only people in the shop, and the owner is on his computer at the next table. ...read more
