I've belonged to five gyms over the years and this one is by far the very WORSE!!! The equipment was sticky & dirty. I don't think it had ever been cleaned. The staff never cleaned it nor did the people using it. Me and my friends began... ...read more

I would advise anyone to NOT GO THERE!!! If I had the choice to give this place a NEGATIVE review, I would. I can't say enough about how bad this place is, but I'm going to try if it will save anyone else from making the mistake of joining....DO NOT do it!! I joined with two friends and we were SO sorry we did after going there for about a year or more. First...we had to cancel our debit cards and get new ones to get them to stop taking payments out even after giving them the 45 (yes, FORTY FIVE!!!) days notice of cancellation. Second...the place is NOT clean. I never saw anyone wiping down equipment...EVER!! There were even times when I found sticky stuff...YUCK...on some equipment. I began keeping my eyes open and NO ONE EVER wiped off any equipment...even the people who sweat all over it. I began taking my own wipes. Third....the staff is very rude and uncaring. No one knows what they are doing to train you properly on the equipment and that could cause injuries. You can PAY for a personal trainer....but I don't believe there is anyone there knowledgeable enough to even BE one...it scared me for new people coming in. I saw many people misusing the equipment. If you ask someone, they don't even seem to care and don't even show you the right way to use the equipment. Fourth....the pool temperature is NOT regulated right. One time it's way too hot and the next it's so cold that people walk out....we saw people walk out of the pool many times either sweating as soon as you walk in or it being so cold you just couldn't stand it. Fifth....we tried some of the classes...water aerobics, floor aerobics, yoga and Zumba. In water aerobics, it's either too slow or too fast. The "trainers" don't pay attention to ones who can't keep up or when it's so slow you're bored. In the other classes, they don't show beginners what to do...they just behave like you should know what to do or keep up with everyone else even if you are new to the classes. They have a "Women's Center" in the very back...it's supposed to be sort of like Curves....but there's hardly ever anyone in there....and there is NO trainer in there. Most of the time there was no instruction....go to next station...and you had to go over and try and figure out how to turn it on. Then you couldn't find anyone to come help when you'd go look. They are all visiting at the front desk or someplace where you can't find them....who knows. Sixth....it's very gloomy there. The lighting is not good and they keep a radio on the same station all the time. It's not the kind that motivates you as you workout. It's just NOT a fun place to be...the atmosphere is just not fun at all. And, as someone else said here, it's cold in the winter and hot in the summer. I almost passed out on an elliptical machine one day and went to a fan and pointed it toward the equipment. Don't bother to ask if they could turn the AC up, you'll just get a grumpy reply or attitude and they won't do it anyway. I could go on and on about how VERY BAD this place is trainer wise, cleanliness wise, rudeness and not caring and all the other....but I will just say if you value your workouts AND your health and well being....DO NOT GO TO METRO SPORTS!!!! IT IS NOT A GOOD PLACE TO BE!! ...read more

Signing up for a one year membership was the biggest mistake. Really grungy feel to the place. Things getting stolen out of lockers was a HUGE problem and they didn't do anything about it. Would highly recommend finding another place. I agree the owner is desperate to milk every dollar possible out of you. They have a policy that you have to tell them 45 days in advance that you want to end your membership, and if for example you tell them only 30 days in advance, they'll charge you for those extra 15 days. That's not good business. Also if you move away too bad. I think their policy is you have to move further than 45 miles away before they'll allow you to teminate your membership without penalty. like anyone is going to drive 45 miles to use a gym. ...read more
