Affordable Rain Gutters

Tim made a good first impression when he came out and did a bid for some emergency gutter work we needed. However that is where the customer service stopped. On several occasions he would schedule an appointment to come out to do the work then not show up. In the meantime it was raining and we were having increasing issues with flooding. We finally got tired of him not returning our calls or showing up when scheduled so we cancelled the job and had someone else do it. I would absolutely NOT RECOMMEND using TIm or Affordable Rain Gutters due to horrible customer service and lack of follow through. ...read more

Hard Water in the shower!

How many of you have tried to clean the hard water on your shower doors and were not successful?  You heard someone say use CLR or vinegar or someother home made concotion.  I want to give you some simple advice that will save you time and money.  Non acid ideas to remove hard water are: Use steel wool and some cleanser to remove the hard water.  You could also use steel wool and rubbing compound you use for your car. Acid ideas: Go to Don Asletts on Maple Grove and Overland and get some "Once over water spot remover"(Phosphoric Acid base) and steel wool, or one of there white pads. Directions say to use gloves.  This is a mild acid and will not burn your hands.  Initially it will be messy and you will have to rinse the glass before you wash it. Now some might say steel wool will scratch the glass.  Normally it would but if you use it on regular glass.  On Shower doors you are not even touching the glass because of the hard water. Interesting concept and difficult to get your mind around.  I have used the roughest steel wool out there and not even come close to scratching the glass.  Once you remove most of the hard water you can switch to a finer grade of steel wool to finish the job. Your last option is to call me and I have a stronger acid I can use that removes at least 80-90% of all hard water on the glass. Hint for you Merchant Circle users go to Impact Directories Phone Book coupon section, and use my free Shower Door Hard Water Removal Coupon.  ...read more

Gutters & downspouts + rain barrels = green!

With all the projects you become faced with as a homeowner, one of the most important is insuring that your rain gutter system is in place, working well and that your gutters covers enough of what you need to be protected.  Not the least of your worries is foundation damage, damage to siding, walkways and driveways, landscaping, window wells and crawl spaces {to have a crawl space professionally dried out, dependant on the severity of the damage can start at $5,000.00!}.  The potential for flooding in your home, or crawl space seepage are only the tip of the iceberg.  If your foundation is being saturated, it is possible that your home may experience some settling on top of already having compromised the integrity of the foundation itself.  Gutters and Downspouts are responsible for routing the water that lands on your roof to downspouts which carry the water to wherever you desire.  If your home needs a pop-up drain installed to move the water from downspouts to the lawn, or a bush, etc that can be easily done.  In our region we experience droughts almost annually.  Green thinking and practices is one way that we can change old patterns of water use and realize the amazing benefits of recapturing rain water and using this natural FREE resource. A formula to remember: 1 inch of rain on a 1.000 sq. ft. roof yields 623 gallons of water. Calculate the yield of your roof by multiplying the square footage of your roof by 623 and divide by 1,000. YOU CAN RECLAIM YOUR RAINWATER!  Rain Water is naturally soft water, so you can wash your car or windows with it spot free!!  Why water your plants with chlorinated water when you can use rain???  Reusing rain water makes a difference in many ways.  It helps preserve our rivers by keeping storm water out of our city drainage system, thereby preventing soil, grease and pesticides that can be washed into a storm drain and out to waterways.  Substantial savings can be made as water prices start to rise, and our wells are being taken over by the city, they plan to implement their plan in Southwest Boise within a year.  Rain Barrels are the answer to the consumer who wants to lower their carbon footprint, make a difference and become more green to help save our wonderful region.  Using drinking water to flush our tioilets and water our lawns will become less and less attractive as prices for water go up.  MAKE A DIFFERENCE TODAY.  CALL AFFORDABLE RAINGUTTES FOR A FREE ESTIMATE!  ...read more
