Paint-On vs. Pouf-On--Glitter Tattoos

So you are thinking about buying a Glitter Tattoo Kit...you've done all your research and have discovered there is more than one method for applying the Glitter Tattoos. You've found a kit that includes Glitter in small little pots with brushes and you've discovered other kits that use "Pouf" bottles--we at Twinkle Tattoos call these Glitter Spitters, why?--because it just sounds so fun and they really do "spit" out that glitter. I started out doing Glitter Tattoos using the glitter pots and brushes. I loved they way the tattoos turned out using the brushes especially when I was applying several colors. The brushes gave me good control of glitter placement. However, it took me longer to create single color tattoos with the brush. What I really didn't like about the kit I purchased was the actual glitter pots--they were so small and hard to hold. Sometimes I would spill glitter onto my hands when picking them up. The second thing I really had issues with was WIND. At outdoor Glitter Tattoo parties when the wind picked up my glitter would go flowing in the air...in my head I thought "My money is flying away!" After doing a few parties with my glitter pots and brushes I purchased a few Pouf Bottles with glitter to try out at my next party. I found that creating single color Glitter Tattoos was much faster with the pouf bottles because I could just squeeze the bottle to apply the glitter quickly. I also found that when I wanted to use several colors or apply a certain color to a small area I could just remove the lid and dip my brushes into the bottle. The bottles are much easier to hold and the shape of the bottle provides protection from losing the glitter in the wind. I recommend combining the methods. I now only purchase Glitter Spitters and still use brushes to apply glitter to small areas. Combining these methods has definitely helped me speed up my Glitter Tattoo application time and has saved me on spillage and loss of glitter to the wind. I have discovered that using tiny synthetic brushes actually work better than the ones I originally purchased in my Glimmer Tattoo Kit. The brushes pick up the glitter better and they can be cleaned in rubbing alcohol if you happen to get glue on them. Here is a picture ofmy favorite brushes. They are small and inexpensive so I can actually use a different brush on each client. They fit into the Glitter Spitter Pouf bottles easily too! ...read more
