My wife had the 12 oz rib eye and it looked like 16 oz. It was a perfect medium, tender and well seasoned. I had the Cajun Rainbow trout. It was OK, but not like the fish I am accustomed to on the Gulf Coast. (And no disrespect but it was an injustice to call it "Cajun"). The dining area was clean but nothing about it was memorable. Perhaps sitting by the window overlooking the river would have been nice. They did have a all you can eat special on crab legs that night and appearance wise they looked delicious. Lots of families were eating here and it seemed the staff were accustomed to accommodating children. The prices were a little steep but on par for a tourist town. Meal portions were generous. Free Parking was available for patrons, which seemed to be at a premium in the town. Overall a pleasant experience. ...read more

Ever since I tasted the Conch Fritters as prepared by a true Conch, George Mira, former quarterback of the University of Miami and the NFL, his have become the gold standard to which I compare all others. Paul's is the only restaurant that has even come close to George's. They were tender and fried to perfection and the sauce was perfectly seasoned for a scintilla of spiciness! Most of our table had more food than we could eat and so we took some back for leftovers. Indeed it was on the pricey side but then Helen, Georgia, is not a cheap destination. It was nice not to have to patronize the chain restaurants. ...read more

You have to remember when you go into Paul's that Everything in Helen, GA is overpriced. That being said, Paul's is a great place for a good meal. Our steaks were very flavorful and a good cut. Side items were good. Some people complain about portion size, but ours was just right. Atmosphere inside is VERY dated; however, all of the staff are friendly and accommodating. ...read more

Paul's Restaurant & Lounge seems to be a very popular "steakhouse and seafood" restaurant in Helen. My husband and I had dinner there twice. The food was excellent. A bit on the pricey side, but well worth it. The staff was very pleasant and helpful on both occasions. The setting is nothing to brag about. Besides the portraits of the famous like Elvis, Willie Nelson, and pictures of Sammy Davis, etc, on their walls, I really think for such a cool and somewhat pricey place, they should do something with the decor. Make it more appealing and make it look more like a cozy or inviting dining area. If you look closely, the dining area could easily pass for a small, plain reception hall. I certainly would eat there again. ...read more

Have been to Paul's on every trip to Helen, GA and have not been disappointed yet. If it is the right night I will have the all you can eat crab legs. If not I really love the grilled Prime Rib. The queen cut is big enough for me. My husband gets the king cut and it is thick and very good. Love the baked sweet potato and fresh garden salad too. The view of the Chattahoochee River is very nice while you are eating. At night the town of Helen can be seen from most tables all lit up. The service is good and staff very friendly. One time my camera battery had died and the hostess plugged in my charger at the front desk for me. I you have to wait during the busy season the bar is nice with a big screen TV and good atmosphere. ...read more

I have been here a few times even as a tourist trap in a small town....however, Thursday-Sunday nights are all you can eat specialties. Thursday and Sunday are snow crab legs, Friday is ribs, Saturday is popcorn shrimp. I recommend you go one of these nights because otherwise you pay a little more. ...read more

I love going to Paul's sitting by the windows overlooking the Chattahoochee River. I like the seafood and my boyfriend likes the steaks. The food is great maybe a little pricey but we have not had a bad meal. The associates can have hit or miss attitudes and that is the only real thing I see as needing some enhancement. This last time our waitress on Sunday was wonderful and cheerful. We usually start our afternoons at their outdoor place behind them, with drinks and snacks, an live music while watching the tubers go down the river. Then after our dinner finish out the night dancing and listening to music in the Lounge, which has an upstairs, overlooking the dance floor and band below. It has additional bar and dance floor upstairs too. Always good music. ...read more

We just had appetizers and a few drinks, but it was good. We were in the lounge for a few hours and overall had a great experience. The music was very good!! We felt comfortable. At one point someone in the back got a little out of hand, but the bouncers were on top of it. If you want live (good) music and a relaxed atmosphere this is the place to go! ...read more

Food was great. Service was great, but they got us on the souvenir cup. We bought drinks in these 32 oz cups because we were told we could carry them around town and get $5 refills on beer or $2 off on mixed drink refills at any restaurant/bar in town. We later found out after going to a few other... ...read more

After reading the reviews, I was a little leery. However, my prime rib was great and so was my husband's rib eye. Food was very good BUT their drink pricing was a bit on the high side. Very small Margarita’s for 7.50. 1/2 carafe of wine for 17.00. I would go back but would cut back on the drinks. ...read more
