Sinus Institute of Atlanta

4.0

By Vickie Ingram

I was experiencing severe head pain and no doctor could diagnose the cause. I came to Atlanta Institute for ENT and Dr. Sinha did a scope and CT found I had pus in all my sinus cavities. He was able to pinpoint why my problem was and suggested I have a balloon sinuplasty procedure. This helped me greatly and was minimally invasive so I was able to continue with my regular activities within a few days. I really appreciate the attentiveness of Dr. Sinha and his staff during this procedure. ...read more

I had an appt. with Dr. Chacko for an allergy screening, outside of the initial test, 5 others were given - none of the charges were explained for the optional testing. The nurse wiped the numbers off of my skin before the doctor even came back in - luckily no major allergies in those spots...after trying to contact multiple people in the office to discuss my concerns, I was passed to billing, front office, voicemails, etc. and there was no follow up. Overall experience was negative. ...read more

Apple ReSound LiNX

The 21st century just keeps getting better and better, at least when we’re talking about medical technology. Now there’s a hearing aid set that syncs up with your smartphone and streams sound into your ears! Known as the Resound LiNX, we’re talking about a small and yet incredibly powerful (and intelligent) tool for the hard of hearing. The design is especially nice. Sleek. Modern. Then there’s a whole slew of benefits to being a proud owner. Let’s get to those. Modern Benefits of the Apple ReSound LiNX I won’t get too technical here, because how exactly these beauties work is pretty complex. They’re far more than headphones or simple sound amplification devices. ·         Geotagging: Like any smart product, they’re connected to the “grid” so to speak. Throughout your daily life you’ll use different settings in different places. So, let’s say you head into work or your favorite restaurant, the ReSound LiNX will know and either automatically adjust or ask you if you would like to do it yourself. Incredible! ·         Microphone: You can basically take your iPad or iPhone and transform it into your own specialized microphone. Once the mic is activated, the immediate environment is then flawlessly streamed into your consciousness in stereo using frequency compression. ·         Tracking: Here’s the thing though, they’re just as easy to lose or misplace as other small devices. But, through the app that goes with these hearing aids you can see where they’re located on a digital map! It’s a feature called, “Find My Hearing Aid.” How awesome is that? ·         Personalized: We’re all getting accustomed to the way smart devices can be customized to fit our own lives, tastes and preferences. The ReSound LiNX is no different. Many of these options are available through the app as well. Are you seeing the potential here? The bar has been raised. The precedent has been set. Seamlessly connected smart hearing aids are as high quality as it gets with studies to back it up. The surround sound simply cannot be matched. Here are a few features you’ll enjoy. ·         The chip platform in the ReSound LiNX is outfitted with 3rdgeneration 2.4 GHz wireless technology that packs twice the punch. What that means is that the hearing aids are perfect for roughly 90% of the folks with hearing issues today. ·         They’re almost impossible to break and because they’re coated with nanotech you can rest assured they’re protected from things like moisture, natural ear wax or dust. ·         Yes, the batteries last a while and they’re held securely with the newly designed battery door/tube connector. As you can see this is top of the line. The Apple ReSound LiNX is the best you can find anywhere in the world right now and there’s even tons of accessories to choose from as well. I for one am very excited to show these to all my clients. ...read more

The Atlanta Hearing Doctor Supports Breast Cancer Research

Breast cancer strikes one in eight people in the US. Everyone knows someone - a mother, daughter, sister, grandmother or friends who has endured this terrible disease. Dr. Maria Wynens, the Atlanta Hearing Doctor in Atlanta, Georgia has found a way to combine her commitment to improve the hearing health of people in Atlanta and her determination to help find a cure for breast cancer. In October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Dr. Wynens will participate in the national "Pink with a Purpose" campaign to help raise funds for breast cancer research. Throughout October, leading hearing care manufacturer Oticon will donate a portion of proceeds from the sale of a special Think Pink Agil and all other Agil hearing devices to the National Breast Cancer Coalition.  Agil preserves natural speech cues without compromising sound quality and speech understanding so less energy is needed to translate and interpret the meaning of sounds. By minimizing the cognitive energy expended in typical listening situations, Agil empowers people with hearing loss to communicate freely, interact naturally and participate actively in everyday life.  "With the addition of the Streamer remote control and the ConnectLine system, Agil can connect wirelessly to TVs, cell and landline phones and other popular communication devices," states the Atlanta Hearing Doctor.  Special edition Think Pink Agil is available in a mini behind-the-ear device that is almost invisible on the ear. Dr. Wynens notes that the Agil family of hearing instruments can accommodate approximately 80 percent of hearing losses.  For more information on hearing loss and the Think Pink Agil, contact the Atlanta Hearing Doctor at 404-252-7528 or visitwww.atlantahearingdoctor.com ...read more

New Atlanta Hearing Aid

Residents of Atlanta, Georgia, may soon be hearing a lot less of some familiar expressions at social gatherings, noisy restaurants or business meetings: "Pardon me?" "Can you repeat that?" "I'm sorry, I didn't hear what you said." Dr. Maria Wynens, the Atlanta Hearing Doctor, recently attended a professional conference in Orlando, FL, that introduced a new hearing device that is specifically designed to address the needs and preferences of people new to hearing instruments. Results of a recently released international study conducted at two universities, Towson University in Maryland and The Horzentrum in Oldenburg, Germany, show that new Oticon Intiga triggers immediate acceptance by people new to hearing instruments. "This challenges the commonly held myth that it takes time to get used to hearing aids," says Dr. Maria Wynens. "With Intiga, I am finding people who were reluctant to try hearing aids not only accepting their new hearing solutions immediately but also seeing themselves as long term users of amplification." The Atlanta Hearing Doctor is one of the first hearing care practitioners in the US to offer Oticon Intiga. "Intiga delivers immediate and obvious benefits to first time users," says the Atlanta Hearing Doctor. "Intiga's advanced technology combined with its sleek ergonomic design and miniature size can motivate people with hearing loss to take action now to improve their quality of life." In addition to quality of life benefits, Intiga also appeals to the almost universal desire for a hearing instrument with discreet size and style. Intiga's small, sleek ergonomic design hides easily behind the ear and is comfortable to wear throughout the day. The fully automatic technology also means there are no buttons to adjust. Wireless connectivity allows Intiga to connect wirelessly to cell phones, becoming a virtual hands-free headset. With addition of the Oticon ConnectLine system, audio from televisions and landline phones can be streamed directly to the hearing instruments. The discreet ConnectLine clip-on microphone can be used with Intiga to enhance a user's ability to engage in one-on-one conversations in difficult listening environments. Intiga is available in 13 colors ranging from subtle shades that blend to complement natural skin and hair tones to more vibrant contemporary colors including terracotta, vivid lilac and natural henna. "I always encourage people to consider a trial of new hearing instruments," adds the Atlanta Hearing Doctor. "The international study provides an added incentive to make that trial with new Intiga." For more information about new Intiga and hearing health, contact Dr. Maria Wynens, the Atlanta Hearing Doctor at 404-252-7528 or visit www.atlantahearingdoctor.com. Dr. Maria Wynens is offering a free, no-obligation, two week, at home, trial of the Oticon Intiga. This offer includes a free hearing screening, a free consultation, and a free listening demonstration of the Intiga. Contact her office, the Atlanta Hearing Doctor, to schedule a free hearing aid trial, at 404-252-7528 or visit www.atlantahearingdoctor.com. ...read more
