How to Dissolve Ear Wax

How to Clean Out Ear Wax

Ear wax is naturally produced by our ears, and can build up over time. You should clean your ears regularly to prevent this ear wax from building up. You can either choose to clean your ears with Q-tips, or with an ear wax removal product sold at your local pharmacy. Many doctors advise not using Q-tips due to a risk of damaging the ear drum.

Q-Tips

  1. Shower or bathe as you normally would, washing the outer part of your ear with a wet wash cloth to loosen any ear wax on the outer lobe of your ears.

  2. After getting dressed, dry your ears with a clean and dry towel.

  3. Use a Q-Tip to gently rub the outer lobes and creases of your ear to remove any ear wax that is there.

  4. Do not stick the Q-tip into your ear canal, this can damage or even puncture your ear drum leading to permanent haring loss.

  5. Repeat the process until no further ear wax comes off on the end of your Q-tip. Once the Q-tip is clean, you are done.

Ear Wax Removal Drops

  1. Purchase an ear wax removal product from your local pharmacy.

  2. Tilt your head to the side and remove the lid from the ear wax removal drops.

  3. Squeeze the dropper gently so that the drops are sucked up into the dropper.

  4. Apply the amount of drops recommended by the manufacturer into your ear and then allow you head to remain tilted for three to five minutes so that the drops can loosen the ear wax.

  5. Place a tissue over your ear and then tilt the treated ear facing downwards to allow the ear wax drops and all ear wax to drain from your ear onto the tissue.

  6. Repeat the process on the other ear.
