I wish I saw these reviews beforehand. I had exactly the same experience. Horrible sod (I've orderd tons of this stuff so I know what it's supposed to look like). Weeks later, still trying to nurse it to health, and the sandy base makes it uneven. What's worse is that I ordered Palmetto, but they sent Floratam. I caught it when we were almost done laying it. I called them and they blew it off as not available. I told them it would have been nice to let me know that I was not getting what I ordered and paid for. I ordered overpriced sod from them this week. I told them I didn't want the cheap sod that is on sand, I wanted the dark muck type. I was told that they were only selling the muck type right now. Then of course they was a price increase a few days ago... The driver delivered the sod, he said it was still dormant because they had to get it locally. He said it has a guarantee and they will replace it. The more I started putting it down the more more depressed I got. I have e-mailed the company twice so far so I have a record and no replies. I installed several pallets of A-1 sod after using Round-up, tilling and spreading starter fertilizer. I don't live in Jax but 2 weeks later my tenant said the sod turned brown almost overnite. My lawn service tech visited the next day, saw the sod webworm infestation and determined that the sod was infested prior to delivery due to the webworm life cycle and lack of lawn damage anywhere else. A-1 Sod denied it and blamed everyone they could...me for overwatering (sprinkler set for 1" 3x/week), lawn service for using wrong fertilizer, or tenant for fertilizing after the sod had turned brown. The A-1 Sod manager spoke to Univ of FL horticulturists and provided inaccurate info to make it seem like all of this happened. After much written documentation, including me presenting U of FL Agri with facts and their analysis that it was in fact sod webworms, A-1 Sod finally agreed to replace the sod 5 months later. A neighbor recommended that I try Trad's for my lawn fertilization and pest control service. I contracted with them in June and already cancelled my service. They are incompetent from the Office Manager to the yard technicians. All they do is offer excuses for why they ruined my yard. And to top it off, they refused to fix it. My lawn mower was conking out after running 10 minutes or so. Seemed like it was a carburetor problem. I take it to Davis Disservices. They kept it for 6 weeks. I called numerous times to check on it...3 different people said they'd call me back...never did. So I go in and it's ready. They charged me $149 for a spark plug, a fuel filter an air filter and a battery. I made them take the battery charge off...it was never the problem. I get it home,crank it up...10 minutes later it conks out. I take it back, the tech works on it 10 minutes and turns out the gas cap was the problem. Changed the gas cap and it runs fine. So I ask the owner about a refund for all of the stuff they charged me for unnecesarily...he told me to jump in a lake. And the battery? They took the charge off, they also took the new battery back but they already threw my perfectly good battery away. So they pulled one out of a junker and gave it to me.
