Took my boat here to get a rebuild on my OMC outdrive that needed repair, they had it for 4 months. When I did get it back it took 2 times back to the shop before it would run. Finally when I got it back for the last time it ran but sluggish, I found that they had put 3 to many quarts of oil in the motor and the power trim and tilt indicator had been left unhooked. When it comes to junking your vehicle there are two things to consider. Number one. Does the cost of the repair needed on your junk car exceed the value of the vehicle? Number two. If your junk car is worth a few thousand more than the needed repair think about mileage. Here is an example of what I mean. I had a customer call me on a junk truck that needed a new engine and had 125,000 miles on it. He told me it was going to cost $3500 for this repair. I told him I'd pay $700 for his particular junk vehicle. He replied "Well Kelly Blue Book says it's worth $6000 so I am going to have it repaired because it is still worth more than the repair". 2 months later this same truck was running great until the transmission went out (a $2500 repair). The same customer called me and said he was "fed up!" and told me to please scrap his truck. It's not always worth having major mechanical work done on a scrap car worth under $10k.
