How to Get Manufacturer's Rebates

Mail-in rebates are given by the manufacturer as an incentive to purchase a product. Manufacturer's rebates are a great way to reduce the cost of a purchase, especially on expensive items. Once you make your purchase you must to send the manufacturers mail-in rebate form, along with other required items prior to the rebate expiration date.


  1. Do research to find mail-in rebates when deciding to purchase a product. Manufacturer's rebates are only offered for a specific amount of time and you need to make the purchase while the rebate is valid.

  2. Talk to a store employee and ask where the manufacturer's rebate forms are located. Often, rebate forms are printed out with the receipt after payment, while others are in specific area of the store. Make sure you are given the correct manufacturer's rebate form for the item purchased.

  3. You can download rebate forms when purchasing an item online. Download the rebate form at the time of purchase, but if it has expired it will no longer be available for download.

  4. Fill in the rebate form with the required information. Make sure all information is accurate. Enclose all required information such as the original receipt and UPC bar code on the product purchased. 

  5. Make a copy of the manufacturer's rebate form along with items required to be mailed to the manufacturer.

  6. Mail before the expiration date. The rebate will be denied if it is not postmarked prior to the expiration date.

  7. Wait for the number of weeks needed to process the manufacturer's rebate. Processing can take anywhere from 4-12 weeks.
