tired of getting ripped off at auto shops

Recently I witnessed a young lady go into a local shop  of a national chain company and a problem that should have costed her no more than $30  the shop decided to lie to her, convince her that instead of just replacing the fuel filter, that she needed a brand new fuel pump. The problem with the whole situation is it was wrong from the begining. The shop claimed it needed a new fuel pump, when the fuel pump was showing no signs of failing. To add to the bite they go with the most expensive motorcraft fuel pump they could find which costed almost $600. The issue here is I could have ordered that part from the dealership cheaper than that, and NONE of the parts stores or vendors sold the part for even half of the price, the highest anyone carried was $285. Lets add even more salt to an open wound she was charged $98 an hour and the job rates at 2.9 hours, the job commonly is completed in less than 30 min. That is just horrible morals, no shop should be allowed to pull nonsence like this. that shop charged nearly $900, when they really only should have charged $30-50. ...read more
