I live in Chicago, and being a huge procrastinator I didn't start looking for a florist who could deliver something the following day to my best friend in Prescott until 6pm. I found this awesome bridal bouquet on BloomNation that was made by Allan's Flowers and More. The colors were AMAZING! Hot Pink with black. Both of our favorite colors! The store was closed but I was immediately able to talk to a person using the chat box. I told her I would love to order the flowers but I would need it made into a floral arrangement, not a bridal bouquet. She told me the store was closed but she didn't see any reason that it couldn't be done and I should just ask for a floral arrangement in the notes when I ordered. She made sure she answered all of my questions before we stopped chatting. I ordered the flowers and after I paid and reviewed my order, I realized I put the right address but the wrong name. I accidentally used my name. I found the email address for the business and I told them to ...read more

The 3/50 Project

The 3/50 Project was founded by Cinda Baxter. It is, to me, a remarkable campaign to encourage all of us to support local business. In the age of the internet it is so easy to simply order from an online service with no idea of where that business is based, who it employs, how it benefits us as business owners and human beings. In the floral industry people are practically assaulted with options to order flowers. There are hundreds to choose from. So how does one make the right choice when it comes to ordering flowers. You probably know my choice - go local. Search online for the local florist in the city you're sending to. Click on the florist's information before you order and see what their address is. I know here in Prescott we have a number of options that pop up claiming to be local when in fact they are far, far away from Prescott. Unless we take that extra moment to view a shop's address we can never be sure where they are located. We make a point at our shop to do as much business locally as possible. The 3/50 project is a simple idea with a huge impact. Here's how it works and what it asks each of us to do. Pick 3. Spend 50. Save your local economy. Think about which three independently owned businesses you'd miss most if they were gone. Stop in and say hello. Pick up a little something that will make someone smile. Your contribution is what keeps those businesses around. If just half the employed U.S. population spent $50 each month in independently owned businesses, their purchases would generate more than $42.6 billion in revenue. Imagine the positive impact if 3/4 of the employed population did that. For every $100 spent in independently owned stores, $68 returns to the community through taxes, payroll, and other expenditures. If you spend that in a national chain, only $43 stays here. Spend it online and nothing comes home. The number of people it takes to start the trend...you. It's as simple as that. Pick your favorite locally owned businesses, spend $50 each month there. I say even if you don't have $50 spend what you can and keep some of that cash local. We offer two websites for people to find us on. It is important to me that people have options to chose from and can find us with ease. We love our customers and do what we can to offer them our best. I think most businesses operate with this principle in mind. Our customers matter to us. I've had some good and some pretty bad online experiences. So I know that good customer service can be found anywhere. Once you find it, keep that business in mind and patronize them when you can. Thanks for keeping it local. Save The Florists

Teleflora has started a new campaign called "Save The Florists!" I totally love this idea. People really don't know that often buying from an online only floral company will result in your flowers being dropped shipped. What does this mean? Drop-shipping is the sneaky way some floral companies bypass traditional florists. It works like this: you go online, buy what looks like a traditional arrangement, and a warehouse somewhere in the middle of the country packs some flowers and a vase into a cardboard box and loads it onto the truck. Your flowers arrive dehydrated, stressed and must be arranged by the recipient. No artistry. No Style and no florist. These drop-shippers don't really save you money either. You pay premium dollar for these flowers as well as shipping&handling fees. I recently checked out what it would cost for a delivery from one of these drop-ship florists and a $49.99 bouquet ended up being $89.27 with shipping charges and tax and handling. What happened to that great deal they offered? We could have delivered that same arrangement for $66.65 and saved $22.62! Our flowers receive premium care from the moment they leave the grower's farms. We work with a floral supplier who is committed to floral quality. All of their flowers are processed as soon as they arrive and kept hydrated in water. They arrive at our shop in water where we give each flower a fresh cut, give it a dip in a hydrating solution and right into fresh water it goes. Every arrangement receives a spray with our anti-transpirant which helps the flowers to retain their moisture. And they are stored in our walk-in coolers until they leave our store to arrive at your home or office. Save the Florists! www.savetheflorists.com It's a worthy cause! ...read more
