Crazy, or is it?

Do you ever get criticized when making decisions based on your Biblical beliefs? Does your sanity get called into question for even trying to follow in Christ's footsteps? Crazy Love, by Francis Chan explores the world of what is vs what should be in the life of Christ's disciples. Find yourself living differently than you do once you have read this best selling Christian Book. This volume will cause you to rethink how you approach God, how you pray, how you enter into the presence of His almighty power. It will make you fall in love with your creator, and to know Him more deeply that you ever imagined possible. I don't recommend you buy a copy. You need two or more, because this will be one of those books you want to give away, but you won't want to give up your own copy. ...read more

Little Girls Dreams of Playing a Harp

As the harp specialist here, I have spoken with hundreds of women who either: A)  Have a little girl who is begging them for a real harp to play B)  Used to be that little girl longing for a harp, and never stopped longing for it I don't know if it's part of being raised on fairy tales and Bible study, but there is a mysterious connection about harps for females.  This is not just an observation made watching from the sidelines.  I always wanted to play harp.  But my mom wanted me to play piano, so I took lessons.  Later I learned a variety of other instruments and finally learned hammered dulcimer because it sounds like a harp and I thought it was easier to play.  By the way, I was wrong.  Harp is much easier to play than a hammered dulcimer. Finally, for my 46th birthday, my wonderful boyfriend bought me a harp as a surprise.  It is gorgeous and I love just looking at it.  When I came home and saw it raised high on a harp table...gleaming in the late afternoon light...Celtic knotwork carving down the sides...I felt what can only be described as a sense of glee rising in me.  I squealed like a little girl, ran to it, ran my hands over it.  Then I tuned it, and played through half the song book.  And it felt so right.  Like a musical version of coming home. What I'm saying is that I understand that desire to play harp.  When I talk with these women who call to inquire about our harps, I feel an immediate bond with them.  They all tell me about their childhood dreams, what playing harp represents for them and I know.  Some tell me about how their little girl talks about playing a harp, draws pictures of a harp in crayon and puts them around the house, how she lights up whenever she sees a person playing harp on tv.  Mothers ask me if their 8 year old daughter is too young to play a harp.  My feeling is that if she wants one, there is a harp for her.  They come in tiny sizes, just a foot high, up to 26 string harps that are extremely lightweight.  Later we get emails and calls from these mothers telling us how excited their daughter was to receive her harp.  They are usually absorbed with it, playing it often, carrying it around, showing it to their friends and family.  Women call and ask me if they are too old to start playing harp.  Sometimes these women are younger than I am.  I tell them that if they can hold a harp, and pluck the strings...they are not too old.  These women run from their 40's into their 70's.  All of them have carried a secret longing to play harp for a long time.  Later, they tell me how much they are enjoying playing harp.  I hear comments such as "I don't know why I waited so long", "It's much easier to play than I thought it would be" and "I should have bought a harp years ago."  It's unclear why, but for many females playing a harp is a childhood dream come true. ...read more
