Sure, this place is great...if you want your hair cut by a 12-year-old who just learned how to use scissors. I made an appointment at this place for 5 pm. At 5:20 pm the hairstylist finally put me in the chair. At the time, my hair was longer, I had just grown it out for a wedding, but wanted it cut back to may usual bob. A simple haircut right? Apparently not, because after spending 3 hours at the salon (yes, I had my hair highlighted but it should not have taken this long), I went home, washed my hair and attempted to style it. It was all uneven and choppy in the back. Literally, my hair slanted completely from left to right. I was almost in tears. I can deal with a bad style--not a bad cut. The next morning I immediately called them and asked it to be fixed. But the girl who had done it was not in that day so they didn't want me to come in. I am a business professional. I have lived in the Eau Claire area for the past 8 years and have tried every other salon in the area, and I would have to say that Retreat Spalon provided the best experience I have ever had. My hair designer was very knowledgeable and helped my create a fresh, young new look. I even pre-booked my next appointment because I had such a great time and I am looking forward to my next visit. ...read more

I just moved to the area and Retreat looked like my best option. After making an appt., I was seated at Katelyn's chair. After discussing what I wanted done with my hair (no length off, just a tiny trim following the base layers of my last cut and a nice bronze to my hair color) she noticed I had naturally curly hair. I would expect at such a salon the experienced hair cutter would know that a razored edge does not work with this texture hair. After seeing clumps of my hair fall to ground, she finally made a statement that she was "thinning my hair to get rid of the bulk!" This was NOT what I had asked her to do. Once she finished the butchering, she tried to blow dry it straight, stopped the hair dryer and asked how I got my hair straight. At that point I picked up my bag and said I would do it at home. The color is no where near the bronze I asked for either. I emailed the salon with my concerns and have yet to recieve any form of communication with the salon regarding the incident. ...read more
