My experience with Charter Club apartments started to go downhill once Pinnacle Property Management took over a couple of years ago. As a result of their annoying and expensive policies I have moved out and am very happy to be an ex-resident. It started with the constant need for management to enter my apartment. They would give 48 hour notices without specifying when they would enter; they just said they would enter at some point between a several day span. They would not even specify a time frame during the day when they would enter. A new notice would appear every couple of weeks. So much for privacy! Then, the new Charter Club lease agreement (drafted by Pinnacle PM) states that you cannot have any pets visit your apartment. My parents could not visit with their little 20 pound dog because the lease agreement said they were not welcome. Also, if you want to have a pet of your own, you have to pay a large deposit and a ridiculous extra monthly payment. How is that pet friendly? As far as noise, at Charter Club it is very common for douchebags with loud stereo systems in their cars to drive by your bedroom window at all hours of the night. This place attracts some of the noisiest drivers/cars I have ever seen. (This is one of the few complaints that I have that is not directly related to management) Charter Club says that you cannot store items on the front porch, yet my neighbors left their mountain of smelly trash in front of their apartment for the last year that I lived there. Charter Club never enforced their policy, and they probably still have trash out there. The final straw was when they decided to increase my rent by about 15% unless I signed on for a full 1-year lease. In the past, I had just been doing 6 month leases for about ~2% more, so this was rather annoying. I decided to move, and while I searched for a new place to live, I went month-to-month. Charter Club charged me a full 40% more for month-to-month than the 1-year lease amount! How ridiculous is that?! Do not rent at Charter Club apartments! They will try to scam as much money out of you as they possibly can while making your experience miserable. Do YOU want to live in an apartment where the fire alarm goes off multiple times in a month? But wait, you ask, why would that happen? Well my friend, that would be because your apartment is flooded due to faulty plumbing behind your toilet! Oh yes, you could be lucky enough to have your apartment flooded, then have to relocate at absolutely NO cost to West Mall Place for a week and a half, then get a credit of a whopping $100! WOW! Oh but wait, it doesn't stop there! Yes by living at West Mall Place you also get the delight of coming home to finding your power off in just YOUR apartment! It looks like you were lucky enough to have tripped the circuit in their main circuit breaker, even though you had been gone all day and had been using virtually no power! And as an added bonus, it takes TWO, yes, TWO hours for them to figure it out while you sit in the dark and cold in the dead of winter! WHOA! Yes, you guessed it, there's MORE! At all hours of the day, you could hear maintenance just pounding away on the roof for months at a time, starting as early as 7 am! I know you want a top floor apartment, now! Oh and don't forget, they are entering your apartment a minimum of once a month for various maintenance. Now, that's not too bad, you say? Well try having the time window be from 9am to 5pm! What a time frame, huh?! So if you want faulty plumbing, lots of wake ups due to fire alarms, faulty power, lots of construction then come on down to West Mall Place! In all seriousness, don't live here. They don't respect you as a tenant, don't take care of you when THEY are in the wrong.
