For many of us living in New England, winter is hard more from lack of sunshine than from dealing with cold or snow.  As the days get longer we are grateful for every additional minute the sun brings its brilliance and cheer back to our vitamin D deprived world.  Although the ground here is still well covered in snow, nature is shifting toward awakening and renewal.  My friend's dog took the first neighborhood skunk hit this morning at 4:00 a.m. More birds welcome the sunrise with song every morning.  This Sunday we go back to Daylight Savings Time. Spring is definitely in the air. The tradition of Spring Cleaning is a task either loved or dreaded, depending on your point of view.  Certainly it's healthy and refreshing to air out the house, clear the dust, eliminate clutter, and get reorganized.  Cleaning the house is also a reminder to clear out our attachments to old ideas and behaviors that no longer serve us. This is the perfect time to reassess your feelings, habits, relationships, goals, and commitments.  What do you you need to eliminate?  What areas of your life deserve more time and attention?  What situations have you outgrown?  How well are you managing your stress? Self awareness comes through non-judgmental observation of our thoughts, beliefs, actions, and emotions. Change comes only in the wake of awareness.  So sweep out those cobwebs and wash off the windows so you can take a fresh look at yourself.  Polish up your most effective life skills and toss out your self-limiting beliefs.
