VP Financial Services Job Description

The financial services industry covers any number of job positions from bankers to investors. The vice-president of a financial service company will be required to perform executive level tasks with the ultimate goal being support for the company and clients.

Education and Experience


A vice-president of a financial services company will be expected to have at least a bachelor's degree in finance, business, accounting or a related field. Candidates with a master's degree will likely be given preference. Candidates for the vice-president position must have proven experience in the financial field. This may include several years of working in the financial services industry in various capacities.


Supervisory Role


The vice-president will be responsible for overseeing several departments in the financial services company. This can include accounting, marketing and administration. The vice-president will work closely with a team of managers to ensure the company is meeting goals and all departments are operating as efficiently as possible.


Creativity


The CEO, board director or president may look to the vice-president to create new strategies for the company. This may include implementing new investment ideas, diversifying the company’s portfolio and offering new retail services. The vice-president will be expected to research new information, work with teams to develop the ideas and coordinate the presentation of ideas.


Involvement


A good vice-president candidate should have demonstrated involvement in the community. This may include charity work, seminar instruction or providing free tax help. Candidates who show interest in their community may better understand how to serve the customers in their area.
