Jones CPA Group, P.C.

By rcoleman6

I have used CPA services over the last 20 years for my small business and personal tax preparation. Most of those years I chose a small individual preparer to control cost as well as to enhance individual service. Four years ago when my tax preparer retired, he passed along his clients to Jones CPA Group in Virginia Beach. Honestly, I assumed that both my costs and level of service would be adversely affected. Therefore, I was quite surprised when that was not the case. From the beginning, Jones CPA Group took the time to review my previous returns, understand my business and address my concerns. Over the last four years I have been very satisfied with the level of service I have received. Enough so that I have recommend them to a number of my business associates. I have also been very satisfied with my preparation costs. ...read more

i've been using this company for a couple years now to do my personal taxes. I do NOT....i repeat DO NOT recommend their services. i have given them chances time and time again to get my stuff done on time with minimal hassle but it never happens this way!!! I have to constantly call to try to get a status on my taxes and she is never available or as Clientva said...ALWAYS out sick or with personal issues. When she is there she is in a "meeting" and will call me back which never ever happens. In searching for her website to leave a review(which they don't have...strange nowadays?!) I find her name coming up on recent court docket files!!! Now this could mean anything...being sued, suing someone, leans. etc. .....But wait for it..... she was on these dockets for EMBEZZLEMENT CHARGES!!!!!!!!! Seriously????? Not only was this woman being charged with it BUT she was found GUILTY GUILTY GUILTY of EMBEZZLING!!!!!!! How is this woman still able to do peoples taxes and touch their information? How is this company still in business???? Someone please explain this to me....... ...read more

If you own a company DO NOT let her handle your taxes, books etc. She is very unreliable, untrustworthy and dishonest. I wouldn't let her do my personal return as well. She routinely does not show up for work and cancels appointments. When she is at work she's so busy chasing her own tail to catch up, that a lot of items get pushed to the side. This causes last minute hurried attempts at finishing returns. ...read more

10 Tips for Productivity, Profitability & Security with New Technology

Computers and printers have become so inexpensive that it pays to upgrade.  Shop the internet for prices and specifications before you buy.  A few months ago, we decided to do a technology review.  We ended up buying new computers and printers compatible with Windows 7 Professional operating system.  While productivity may have sagged temporarily while adapting to software and hardware upgrades, the increased speed of faster hardware, faster software and the enhanced features of our new operating system will undoubtedly pay productivity dividends for the next three to five years. If you haven't had a technology review and made some upgrades recently, perhaps its time you did.  Here are ten inexpensive suggestions for small businesses to help you increase your productivity, profitability and security through technology: 1.  Add an uninterrupted power supply with surge protection for internet, telephone and CATV.  The UPS will protect your hardware and data from power surges and data loss while extending the life of your equipment. 2.  Upgrade patch cables from Cat5 to Cat6 or Cat7 with gold plated connectors for improved connectivity. 3.  Computer memory is inexpensive, maximize your motherboard memory for improved system performance. 4.  Backups are essential for disaster recovery, try a quality brand 1TB portable drives with USB 3.0 technology. 5.  Add USB 3.0 port to your desktop for improved performance on backups with 3.0 USB drives. 6.  If operating in a paperless or semi-paperless office environment, consider adding a second monitor, which has been shown to increase productivity by as much as 25%. 7.  Printer repairs and computer hardware upgrades are relatively easy, so do it yourself and save. In many instances, step-by-step instructions with pictures can be found on the internet.  We recently replaced the pickup roller and page separator on an HP printer in about 10 minutes at a cost of $35 including the cost of a multi-head screwdriver. 8.  Download and install available software updates and patches regularly for improved software performance and system security. 9.  For anti-virus and anti-spyware software, try Microsoft Security Essentials, its free and it works. 10.  Add a router to your system for additional hardware security and enhanced network connectivity. While we do not support software or hardware installations, we can assure you that we have done all of the above tasks without assitance from an IT professional or a computer repair person and we believe you can too.  In fact, we find it challenging to undertake such projects for our own edification and increased self-sufficiency.  Give it a try, you'll be amazed at what you can accomplish!
