Rebuilding Together, the nation's leading nonprofit working to preserve affordable homeownership, hosts a national contest to find skilled tradespersons that give back to their community and add value to their industry. The national campaign accumulated nearly 200 nominations for eligible skilled tradespersons who have made an impact in their communities through their work and trades. Nominated by his son, Gotschi was then selected as a finalist. The public now chooses the overall winner by voting at theTradesperson of the Yearwebsite. "Being chosen as a finalist is very exciting and humbling. This Rebuilding Together contest highlights how many trades people contribute in meaningful ways to the communities where we live and work," said Steve Gotschi, DryHome's owner. "I appreciate the support shown to me and am proud to be considered." Gotschi started Sterling-based DryHome more than 20 years ago and prides his company as providing high quality and honest service. He is also committed to his community. In fact, every year DryHome gives a free roof away during the holiday season to a Northern Virginia individual, family or nonprofit in need. This year's"Free Roof for the Holidays"recipient is an 87 year-old grandfather and WWII disabled veteran. Over the years, other beneficiaries have included:Good Shepherd AllianceandReston Interfaith-- nonprofits serving the homeless; Falls Church Cub Scout House; and Bernie Cline, an elderly resident--recommended byRebuilding Together--who was in desperate need of a roof replacement. With the help of volunteers, skilled trades people, and business partners, Rebuilding Together affiliates make life better for thousands of low-income homeowners, completing 10,000 projects per year. This contest is a way to recognize the important volunteer support that trades people provide in making Rebuilding Together a success.
