I found out from Dr East the thing he loves most about OpenEMR is that it is very costumizable. We have been able to build a EMR that works the way he wants it to work. We were able to build an Echo form that was designed by the echo tech that allowed he to enter all of her results more rapidly than before with the AllScripts they were using before. Dr. East attributes that to the fact that the echo tech developed the form rather than having to adjust to a form that was predesigned. We are going to start developing the patient note. Dr. East wants a patient note that while he is with a patient. He can point and click his way through the note. When he is done with the patient, he will be done with the note and will not have to do transcribing later. This way he can go home sooner and see more patients in a day. This way he will be able to see 5 additional patients a day and earn in his estimate an addtional $15,000 a day. More later. ...read more
