If you get an improvement on your home PLEASE save the receipt and call your Insurance agent this could save you big bucks on your home insurance rates!!! If you have security syatem or a Fire alarm system reporting to a central location then this will save you some $$ as well. Typically keeping both your auto and home policies in one place will save you money, but not always. However if you want a Umbrella policy (excess liability) you typically need them all in one place (there are exceptions). Keep your deductible high, and keep your claims down!, if you are with a company that has exclusively online and 800# contact, you may be at a disadvantage in one way. Claims: If you have an agent you can call that agent and ask "what if" questions. If you do have a claim question and you have an online or an 800# policy call and DO NOT give your policy info or your name. Insurance companies share claim info. Rule of thumb: if your car is 10 years old you may not want Comp/Collision on it, my suggestion is check Kelly blue book, guage what you are paying for the comp/collision and what your deductible is, then make your decision. Credit, Credit, Credit!, Almost every single insurance companies use credit as a rating tool, make sure you pay all your bills on time, this will save you money everywhere where credit is used.
