Looking ahead to this day when our air conditioning unit would fail met me with fear and dread. It finally happened and we were still not prepared. I heard about Vernon years ago when my husband used to sell banking products. He said they were very reputable. So I called them and Mike met those expectations. He is knowledgeable, he answered all our questions and very quickly explained the damage that occurred from years of wear and tear. He was respectful, clean and courteous as he inspected the unit and guided us through the financing of a new unit. It's a lot of money for a new unit but ours was shot He explained how Vernon stands behind their product and replaces it for free if there is a defective unit put in up to the first year. We have under contract with another local HVAC company for over 5 years. After they installed 2 Carrier "Top of the Line" systems costing $$$$, we immediately began to have problems and thus began a saga of unreturned calls, visits and installation excuses from that company. Terrible customer service and management's poor attitude drove us to try a different HVAC company. We selected Vernon based on reviews and our manufacturer's website. Today, Mike Prater came and seemed to really take an interest in our problem. He was professional and explained his findings and recommendations clearly; offering suggestions and solutions and the financial impact of each. Bottom line - we ended up buying one new system, which we have been promised will eliminate our problem. Mike provided an outstanding "first impression" of Vernon and we are trusting in his expertise and integrity. They install tomorrow and then begins the real test of a company's customer service and management. We've been burned once, so Vernon has a new customer because of Mike, and our hope is that other Vernon technicians and company executives make honesty, integrity and competence priorities in their ongoing service. ...read more
