The Truth About Commercial Soaps

I few months ago I came across this article about the dangers of commercial soaps that surprised me to say the least. I had always known that store bought soaps dried out your skin and some had things that probably were not that good for your skin but boy did I have a lot to learn. Many people have no idea what they are using on their skin which is terrifying. Many soaps that we buy at the store contains chemicals that have been known to cause health and skin problems. And over a period of time can really mess with a person's overall health. If you ever wonder why soap dries your skin out then it is probably because manufacturers take the glycerin out of the soap to make an extra profit. It is stripping the skin of it's natural moisture due to the glycerin being taken out. Homemade soap is a great alternative that contains the glycerin your skin needs. And when it is a good quality soap then it is highly likely that you will not need to use lotion as soon as you step out of the shower. So next time before you reach for a bar of cheap soap at the store think about the possible dangers that lie in waiting for you. If you would like to know more about this article please email me and I will send you the article.  aprilbeatty@lycos.com Visit my website for great deals on organic soaps www.unikcreations.com ...read more

You Have a Room Full of Kids But Now What?

As a parent you want to plan the best birthday party for your child but what to do after the children show up. This has always been my biggest concern due to house space and breakables. The trick to any successful children's birthday party is to keep the children wanting more instead of wanting to tear up the decorations. I have found that even on the tightest budgets that you can have a very successful birthday party. Here are a few ideas that I am sure you will find intriguing----- 1. Scavenger Hunt- This is really simple and it can keep the kids busy for a while. You want to make sure that you do make the lists age appropriate. I have found that if you link bigger kids with smaller kids then it helps the smaller kids out. Also kids love to compete for anything even bragging rights on who won so to make it more exciting split the kids into teams (make sure the birthday girl/boy gets to be the captain plus allow him/her to pick the other captain. it gives the child a sense of birthday pride). Here is an example of some things you could use on a list but please make sure it is things that can be regulary found within the hunt area. Outside List: brown leaf, candy wrapper, 4 leaf clover, something blue, weird looking rock Inside List: compact, brush, something orange, unique toy, shopping list 2. What animal are you- This is a game where the kids have to get clues from other kids to find out what animal they are. This was a big hit with my daughters birthday party! You attach either a post it or index card with either a picture of an animal or the animals name to the child's back. Then they each takes turns getting up in front and showing their animal to the kids. Then the child asks the other children a total of 10 questions to see if they can guess what animal they are. Make sure that you explain to all the kids that it is a guessing game that way you do not have a child say something like "Hey I wanted to be a duck like so and so". It will save you a lot of headache and kids have a tendency to blurt things out at the worst times.  These games I have not tried but they sound like a lot of fun------- 3. Sleeping Pirate- All the children (except one - The Pirate) sit Cross Legged on the floor in a circle. The pirate sites Cross-legged in the middle of the circle, blind-folded, with a large bunch of keys on the floor in front of him. A child is nominated to creep up and take the keys and then return to their place, without the pirate hearing them. The Pirate has three goes to point to where he thinks the raider is. If he is successful, the raider becomes the Pirate. 4. Mummies- Split the party goers into teams of three and give each team a toilet roll. Two persons then wrap the third in the toilet roll so that they look like an Egyptian Mummy. The winning team is the one who in a set time (say 2 minutes) have the neatest and most covered Mummy. 5. Balloon Pop- Place notes inside un-inflated balloons,1 or 2 of the notes should indicate that this balloon is a winner. Inflate the balloons and hang them around. Let each child pick a balloon then pop it to see if their note is a winner. ...read more
