Types of Wax Used on the Body

Wax is a great way to remove unwanted hair from one's body. Waxing will leave one's body smooth for a longer period of time than shaving or depilatory creams. The results from body waxing can last anywhere from 2 - 6 weeks, which makes waxing a popular choice for hair removal.

Types of Body Wax



Cold Wax is typically used at home. Cold wax comes in strips that are applied to the hair in the direction it grows, then immediately pulled off in the opposite direction.



Hot Wax is used at most salons. A thin layer of hot wax in applied to the body using a wood stick. A piece of cloth is pressed over the thin layer of hot wax and allowed to briefly harden. The cloth is the quickly removed pulling the hair out the opposite direction in which it grows.



Sugar Wax is a combination of water soluble beeswax or honey and sugar. It is applied the same way as hot wax using a thin layer of sugar wax and cloth.



Wax Strips are typically used at home. Wax strips come in different sizes and contain cold wax or a combination of cold wax and resins. Wax strips are applied the same way as cold wax and removed by pulling in the opposite direction of hair growth.
