Papa John's Pizza

4.0

By Kensgal1966 at Citysearch

We enjoy nothing more than kicking back one night of the week and ordering delivered pizza. Although I had tried Papa John's when the first opened - and wasn't very impressed with the food or the people - I figured it was time to try them again (because they have a really good reputation and better coupons!). They've been here a couple of years, I think, so we called them up last week and ordered pizza for our family. The person who took our order was friendly, so we placed our order and waited for the delivery. The young woman who delivered our pizza was, simply put, the best server (delivery, dine out, or carry out) I have ever dealt with. My family has alot of food allergies, so I asked her, conversationally, about specific ingredients I should be aware of. She was so knowledgeable! She assured me of the ingredients that went into the pizza ( I worry about sesame oil and seeds) which may sound silly to other people, but for those of us with a serious allergy, it is a very intelligent question - usually I just skip whatever we're having so as not to eat it because most people don't even know what's in the food they're serving! This young woman, Heather by name, knew that it did not, in fact, have those things, and really seemed to care that I had allergies and needed to know. She recommended some other dishes that Papa John's serves for the same reasons. She made exact change (an issue with delivery people) and said she took care to bring our pizza quickly so it would still be piping hot. For those of you who've never had food delivered before, the usual experience with delivery people is that, A) they don't usually know how to make change, B) they really don't care about you or your meal because they're just delivering pizza to get by, and, C) if your pizza is cold, they will half-heartedly tell you to "nuke it - it's all the same". Also, I was very impressed because I have some very expensive flowers planted in my yard, and my sidewalk can be a little difficult to navigate. She was so careful not to even brush up against the buds or the flowers while carrying 4 very large pizzas in her hands. She looked me in the eye when she spoke, told me her name, and thanked me for calling Papa John's. Having rheumatoid arthritis can make it hard to carry object like this, so she carefully set it on an outside table for me until my son could get there to get it. She is by far, hands down, the best delivery person I've ever encountered in almost 25 years of having pizza delivered weekly. For that reason only, I will use Papa John's more regularly now, just to have the pleasure of an intelligent, experienced, knowledgeable, and efficient person to bring my food. What a treat! ...read more
