How to Freeze-Dry Chicken?

Some people like to freeze-dry chicken because it can be stored up to a year and it also reduces the weight of the meat. The process involves removing all the moisture from the meat, which has less of an effect on the taste of the meat than normal dehydration. Freezing drying chicken can be easily done at home with some instruction.

How to Freeze-Dry Chicken

  1. Place the chicken on a cutting board and use a sharp knife to slice it into thin pieces. Remove and discard all the skin and bones.

  2. Layer all of the slices of chicken evenly in a sealable plastic bag.

  3. Use a vacuum sealer to seal the plastic bag containing the chicken.

  4. Turn on the freeze-drying machine and set it on the meat setting or follow the manufacturer's instructions that came with the machine.

  5. Allow the chicken to dry for the amount of time specified on the instructions.

  6. Remove the chicken from the freeze-dry machine and store it in an airtight container for future use.
