I cant begin to explain enough how important motorcycle safety is, and with Guys like Vince and Ron instructing, you will learn just how crucial safety and knowledge is to being a great rider or simply improving on your skills.I came into this class with a high technical understanding of how motorcycles work and how we as riders interact with them and how they in turn interact with the road.I had minimal riding experience aside from tooling around on a couple friends bikes in and around the neighborhood, and after working with Vince and Ron over the course of a mere two days i feel like not only has my technical knowledge increased but so has my hands on competency as well!! \t\n\t\nThese guys work with you in a way which is specific to your style and skill level and at no time do they make you feel inadequate or too ""green"" they look at you and your technique and evaluate them HONESTLY and return to you immediately after each run with positive enforcement and encouragement for EXACTLY what you did correctly. Vince and Ron also give you advice and spot on coaching for the inconsistencies. This is all done in their own individual and distinct ways. They don't just speak from behind a bullhorn they actually get out and execute the training and walk you through each portion until THEY feel you are ready to move on to the next level!!! I speak from experience( I'm STILL LEANING and pressing and rolling, Vince). \t\n\t\nBetween the Vince and Ron and the owners there is over fifty years of riding experience and know how to be absorbed. And after so many years riding and Instructing they still manage to make each course an an individual and fun experience that feels personalized to your needs, bear in mind that there are 9 others in this class with you! Now THAT is TRAINING!!! If you want to become a better rider or simply learn to ride, call these guys up and be prepared to learn to be a safer and more capable BIKER!! They have no concern as to whether or not the students actually learn anything useful, as they have driven off many a really good instructor who cared about their students and instead choose to keep the most entertaining instructors who can keep students in their seats. They have pressured instructors to "pass" students who either weren't there or weren't really doing any studying work....which of course is NOT what I would want to see working in MY doctor's office is somebody who doesn't even know the terminology much less what they were doing. This of course leaves the few honest students feeling very shortchanged. The so-called "accreditation" of this school and others means nothing to employers as it is simply a certificate from a private organization....I could get accredited by these if i were to pay the fees! Many employers won't consider graduates from half of these schools as I have seen very few of my former students actually getting jobs in their field. The jobs that they charge exorbitant tuition to train for only will earn a "graduate" nine or ten dollars an hour. Not good. With the exception of the LVN and I have seen alot of nurses coming from these schools and although they may be able to cram for and pass state boards they are ill prepared as they did not have the best clinical experiences. Plus $24,000 for an LVN???? Are they high?? You can almost have a Bachelor Science RN for that tuition and be able to pay off the students loans after your finished! My recommendation is that for any program you are considering.....please do yourself a huge favor and attend Alamo Community Colleges for this. Waaaay less tuition, waaaay better training also. For such certificates as a CNA, find a nursing home that gives the training course in exchange for employment at the facility. It may take longer however you will not regret it, and will be saving yourself alot of headaches and heartaches. BTW their own policy states you have three days to decide you do not want to attend their school without obligating yourself to tuition so they should not have done this to you. These schools have been known to change "grades" for people who were not passing in order to increase their pass rate. Even this school was investigated by the TWC previously after such things as changing grades, fudging attendance records, shortchanging on things such as supplies (no printer paper or copying learning materials after paying such high tuition? These are things that are very common for ALL the for-profit career schools in the country...not just this one. Save yourself the heartache....take the extra time and go to a good school!!! ...read more

Career Point College

I agree with the negative reviews. This place is awful. The people that work here for the most part are nothing more than salesmen and loan sharks in my opinion and the quality of education recieved is pathetic. I had a relative attend the school a couple of years ago and heard her many horror stories about this place from the overcrowded classrooms, the unprofessional staff and the overall poor quality of education. She was in the paralegal program and said that 99% of her classes were not even taught by an instructor rather someone handing her a book and telling her to do for the most part busy work. I did a research paper on for profit schools while attending UTSA and tried to get in contact with Career Point for some quotes, what I got was continuous calls from them asking me if I was interested in enrolling and even had one salesman tell me that the quality of education at Career Point was far superior to that of UTSA. I ended up getting in touch with Mr. Hagan who told me that I had no business doing a research paper on Career Point and that he would only answer questions for my paper if we were in the presense of an attorney. All of this over some questions for a research paper. I say this, complaining on a message board or a facebook or twitter is going to do nothing. If you have proof that Career Point has did something illegal toward you and you have proof, hire an attorney or get in contact with your congressman. I would also say to go to the media with your story. San Antonio Express News has an education writter who would probably love to get your story. That being said be ready to have them discredit you. I have read the story of the young lady that came forward and they tried to make her look like an awful person. Sadly, for profit schools like this and others have become big because they seem convenient and you can get a degree and get to work fast. They feed on the working poor, like one guy said, single parents and the unemployed. In reality you can get a better degree for a fraction of Career Point's cost at any legit school in San Antonio (Alamo CCs, UTSA, St. Marys, UIW, etc.). Any school that advertises an associates in 18 months and a bachelors in 2 and a half years is a scam. If it sounds to good to be true it probably is. You will get an associates or bachelors, but it will be one that is worthless to any respected business. In closing I will say if you have proof a lawyer, a talk with a congress rep. and/or the press are your best options for getting your story heard. CPC is a for profit school who is only in business for themselves. They could care less if you get that "high paying job" because you won't see any offers for more than maybe $8.00/hr. anyway. ...read more

Please do not attend this school they are thieves, they tried to charge me $800 after they kept my pell grant of $2,775. I was only in school for 2 days!, I decided to leave because I had an ill family member who had gotten worse I made the decision to care for them and told them about it and they understood( so I thought). They kept hounding me and calling all the time to come in to class( Just so they can get hours on your attendance so they can receive money) Boy was I wrong, I reported them to Texas Workforce Commission and filed a complaint for a partial or full refund of my pell grant. ...read more

One for Autism Inc

My son is now 4, we started with OFA about a year and a half ago. We have Tricare, which allows us to be enrolled in their pediatric clinic. He gets one on one ABA therapy, and is also brought into the classroom to practice his social skills with his peers who do not have autism. My son's biggest deficit has been social, so this was a real selling point for us. Sarah, the head of the clinic, has her masters in ABA and really understands how to reach my son in a way no one else has been able to reach him.\t\nEvery time a have a concern with a behavior or need any answers, Sarah has come up with some type of intervention plan.\t\nWhen my son started, he couldn't sit at a table, couldn't make eye contact, couldn't wait in line, avoided other children and just wanted to play by himself. He has completely changed and enjoys playing with others and taking turns and looks us in the eye when we talk to him now. \t\nYes, OFA is in Olmos Park, in a historic house, so it is not a brand new facility, but the pros, especially access to typical peers to practice social skills, far outweigh the cons. ...read more

I can't begin to tell you how much I think of Vince and Ian. I went thru their course the first weekend after Thanksgiving day and was dead tired after working a bunch of hours in my security job. That said, I was able to get thru the course all in one piece and actually pass. I owe a lot to Vince and Ian for their wonderful patience. I've been wanting to get my motor endorsement back, even though it's been a long time since I've been on a motor. Vince and Ian have gone a long way in making this possible. I very highly recommend this school. You might find fancier facilities, but you won't find better people than Vince and Ian to study and learn with. On top of that, they are pretty funny guys to be around. My thanks to Lisa, as well, for getting me in while the blood was still hot.....ha!! ha!! ...read more

The Goddard School - Closed Location

As a parent I felt my child teacher was great. She was very patient with the children. She told me how excited she was to be a teacher at The Goddard School. I felt that the owners of the school went above and beyond to meet the needs of the children and parents. As a parent I received great feed back about my child daily activities and concerns within a timely manner. The atmosphere of the school is warm and always clean. The owners are very nurturing to the children and always greet them with a hug or smile. Their reputation is known to exceed above excellence in the Stone Oak area. I enjoyed the curriculum and resources that was provided to make sure the children were getting the best for their over all educational needs. The owners were always open to suggestions and very supportive to all the teachers. The Goddard School is a great place to be if you are looking for professional teachers and management that provides a warm , nurturing, safe environment for children. ...read more

Sadly, I can't give out a negative star rating, too bad. Let me start by saying that the good reviews posted on here are probably from Career Point employees, because there is honestly nothing positive to say about this place. Allow me to break this down. Career Point is a for profit school, which basically means they are in business for themselves and could care less if the student is successful as long as they are getting paid. Their "Admissions Advisors" are basically a sales department whose sole purpose is to get as many students to enroll as possible, and will do whatever it takes to get them to enroll even if it mean lying to them. I had a friend who was scammed by this place, so I decided to call and get some information from them on their cirriculum. The lady I spoke with over the phone tried every way she could to sale me on attending the school, she told me CPC's credits transfer to other state schools, LIE, she told me tuition was competitve with other local schools, LIE, you can attend any Alamo Community College and get a real degree for about 5% what tuition is for an Associate's at CPC, in fact my Bachelor's degree from Texas State cost me less than an Associate's would at CPC, and it goes a lot further. The instructors are people from the field they are teaching, but do you really think a successful nurse, lawyer, computer technician or business professional would be working at CPC and not at a high paying office? This place targets low income individuals in desperate need for a job, ever wonder why all of their commercials are on during Maury and Springer? It is sickening that these people feed upon the lower class of our society and reap benefits from them, while these poor souls are stuck in debt up to their ears while still trying to provide for families, children and whatever else the case may be. I have talked with many graduates of this place, and was told that employers laugh when they find out they went to CPC, and mock their "Thanks Career Point" commercials. I mean come on if you were a lawyer would you hire someone with a paralegal degree from CPC or UTSA? If you were a doctor would you hire a nurse from CPC or Incarnate Word? \t\n\t\nTo sum things up, Career Point College is over priced, they feed off the working poor, their instructors are far from the best they could get and it is documented that students find themselves in a financial hole upon graduation. \t\n\t\nThe same education costs 5% of CPC's price at a REAL ACCREDITED school such as Alamo Community Colleges, UTSA, St. Mary's etc. \t\n\t\nPlease people don't waste your money or your time on this scam BUSINESS, this is not a school by any stretch of the imagination. \t\n\t\nBy the way, my friend that attended this place finally found employment in another field after being laughed out of numerous interviews, and she is still paying off a mountain of debt in student loans "Thanks Career Point!" ...read more

The Playhouse Childcare Center

I work in education & due to a change in my job location and hours, we needed to move our then 3 year old and 6 month old to a new daycare. I admit, I was skeptical at the small, plain looking buiding, but soon overcame any reservations I had. The transittion was very difficult for my daughter, but the staff was wonderful at helping her (and me, lol) through it! The curriculum at all levels is challenging, fun, and creative, which is very important to us. My daughter has learned so much and is ahead of her age level, thanks to Miss Jennifer! My kids both love it & we couldn't be happier that we made the move! ...read more
