This May, Wall Street Journal posted an article, "Interns Get A Head Start In Competition For Jobs,"reporting that more and more entry-level positions are being filled by people who formerly interned with the companies advertising the openings. According to a recent survey from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), the percentage has risen from 30% in 2005 to 40% last year. Summer Academy for High School Readiness

Since 2002 The Urban Institute has researched the academic losses suffered by  students when school is out for summer. Per one report, “Much of the observed gain (or loss) results from time in school (or lack thereof).” Per another report, "the quality of the summer activity is an important determinant of whether students gain or lose ground over the summer.
