UZ Marketing

Was double billed for a single order. Was told my yard sign order would arrive by the end of the week. Two weeks after placing my order and still have not received my order. When I call and speak to a rep, all I get is we are sorry and we will send an email with a tracking number. To which I have never received. I teach business mgmt classes to high school students so at least I can use this experience as a teaching opportunity to others on how not to run a customer based business. My advice to others is to shop and use their competitors. ...read more

Creating Marketing Material without Sacrificing Visual Appeal

You don’t have to sacrifice function over form when it comes to the professional, visual appeal of your marketing material. Not all industries have glamorous products and services (like mobile phones and entertainment). This doesn’t mean that you have to settle for marketing materials that look like your competitors or fit the ‘norm’ in your industry. With the right brand vision and experienced team, you can have marketing materials that not only showcase your product or service, but also visually set you apart from the competition. Here are a few tips to help you get started on the right path… Start with a Strategic Approach – Instead of focusing solely on the marketing communications driven by your products and services, take a step back and think strategically first. Start with your overall goal to drive the content and messaging. With this goal in mind, you will find the end result of the collateral is better than you imagined. Consider the big picture now and in the future – Most people put together marketing material with a specific event or meeting in mind. While it is smart to produce material for an event or meeting, don’t forget to consider how you will use the material after it is over. Can it serve more than one purpose or was it designed too specifically for that event that you can no longer use it once the event is over? Choose an experienced team to partner with – while it can be very tempting to use the newest and shiniest creative firm on the block for your marketing collateral, look beyond the flash. Working with a creative team requires time, money and trust. The last thing you want is to hire several wrong firms before you find the right team. Do your research on experience and portfolio. You don’t want a design firm that works with all your competitors (who have similar marketing material), but you want a firm with professional experience in multiple industries. You are more likely to get unique, original ideas and designs from a firm that works across several markets. A recent client of ours took this approach when hiring a creative design team to partner with. By taking a strategic approach, considering the big picture and choosing an experienced design firm they not only came out with the marketing collateral that they wanted, but they also won an award for the design. Here’s what they had to say about their experience working with Tribe: “Fairly fresh off the heels of a complete corporate rebrand, we slowly started the process of revamping a lot of our marketing collateral. Rather than focusing on marketing communications driven by final products, we tried to approach our efforts strategically—what was the goal of the overall effort? We chose to develop a brochure with technically sound and robust information—something more like a design guide. We picked a 15-year old brochure to revamp. We needed to make sure the new piece matched our new brand standards but we also needed to find a way to ensure that the information was graphically represented. We wanted it to be creative and forward but still have the technical look and feel that represents our organization. Tribe Design did an excellent job in executing the project. They worked with us through the time intensive process of copyediting, layout changes and countless revisions. They went above and beyond to help us seamlessly get it all pulled together and ultimately helped produce a piece of literature we could go to market with. Initial feedback has been that our customers are very impressed with it, find it extremely useful, and it is in rather high demand.” Brian Bowers, Marketing Specialist at CDI Energy Products If you’re ready to tackle a new design for your marketing collateral, we’d love to help. We truly enjoy taking our clients ideas and visions and creating them into a reality. ...read more

Logo Redesigns with Google, Bing and Yahoo!

Logo Redesigns with Google, Bing and Yahoo!Recently Google, Bing and Yahoo! released logo redesigns, but they did it for different reasons. When do you know when it is time to do a logo redesign for your business or organization? Can you relate to any of the needs and wants of these big tech companies?Staying with the Trends  While the changes of Google’s logo redesign are subtle, it still impacts the look and feel. Google’s designers used the “flat” trend with this logo improving the standard beveled effect look. While a “flat” look is on trend, it is also a step back to the basics. With new technology enabling new, flashy design elements Google could have gone the direction of most tech companies, but instead made understated changes that are fundamental to what makes a quality logo.Keeping it in the FamilyBing’s goal with their logo redesign was to merge all of Microsoft’s flagship product lines into a whole brand package. In doing this, they created a visual association with their parent company. The design is Swiss inspired with the abstract “B”. The purposeful spacing and strong typography resemble Microsoft Office Suite and Windows. In need of a Redesign Overhaul Yahoo!’s last logo was released in 1995. Like most companies, Yahoo! Wanted to make a change, but needed to stay true to their roots and colors and embrace the future of their company. While that may have been their goal, their design choices don’t speak for the evolution of their products. Yahoo!’s new beveled logo is the opposite of Google’s flat trend. The most notable difference between the old and new logo is the font, which is more modern and streamlined. What do you like and dislike about these logo redesigns? Whether you want a fresh update to your logo or a total overhaul, Tribe can help you keep your brand intact with the updates you want. Let us know how we can help! Here’s a design we did for a local Houston tech company -“Tribe did a great job in refreshing the Strongroom logo and website.  We specifically appreciated the color scheme and design options they brought to our new branding.  The development team is also experienced and fast – which helped us under some tight deadlines in launching the new site.  We could not have done it without the Tribe team.”- Tyler Gill CEO Strongroom Solutions, Inc. ...read more

Growing Social Audiences

The main way to gain attention for your online venture is to create accounts or pages on Social Networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Google+. This will not only connect you with new prospects - it will also allow you to post about your new products or services. Here are some tips to help you gain (and keep) an organic social fan base. Interaction: Social Network readers often comment on or Re-Tweet content rich posts. Make sure to Like, Re-Tweet or Plus what they write (even if negative). This let’s others see that you are reading what users have written and acknowledge their post. Many Social Networks have built in administrative tools that allow you to hide negative posts in a non-evasive way. Usually the comment can be hidden to all but the commenter and his/her friends. Remember - never use profanity as it will resonate a non-professional environment. Time’s A Factor: Don’t overwhelm your audience. Facebook recommends you post at least once or twice a week to keep your readers engaged. Although this is a fine timeframe - it’s best to post rich content (Pictures, Videos or Links) once a day. It can be hard to remember at first -so make it easy*!Even certain times of the day are a factor into how successful your social presence is. Try to think about the schedule your readers might keep on a daily bases and post at times you will get maximum exposure. Although these times vary - usually good times are between 6:30 am and 10:00 am, also between 3:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Make It Easy*: There are many free apps and programs that will allow you to schedule posts ahead of time such asHootSuiteorTwuffer. You can schedule hundreds of posts in advance with these wonderful time savers and some even offer the ability to auto-schedule posts. This means the program will figure an optimal time and/or date for the post(s). Don’t Fake It: There are allot of scams to get more Followers, Fans and Circle dwellers out there for users desperate to build an audience. Although doing this will increase your count of followers or fans - it will not increase sales or interaction due to most being fake accounts. Plus, social networks usually include a free Ad Credit to newly created pages. When used properly (utilizing strict demographic narrowing) you can quickly build the ideal starter audience. Genemix offers multiple free ad credits with every Web Hosting account.Click herefor more information. ...read more
