How to Run Pocket PC Software on a Laptop
A Pocket PC is a Windows Mobile device that has a vast library of software. You may see a program that seems very useful, that you may wish to run on your laptop without have a Pocket PC. With the use a Windows Mobile Device Emulator, you will be able to run Pocket PC software on to your laptop.
- Download Microsoft Virtual PC 2007. This software contains a network driver that is required for networking to work with the Windows Mobile Emulator.
- Go to the Microsoft Device Emulator download screen. Click Download next to "V1Emulator.zip" near the bottom of the page. Save the file to your desktop and run it when the download is complete.
- Download "efp.msi" as well and save it to your desktop also.
- Extract the emulator zip file to the location of your choice, then run "standalone_emulator_V1.exe." Follow the download prompts to enstall the emulator software to your computer.
- Open the "efp.msi" file. Follow those prompts to install the required files on your computer.
- Go to the Windows Mobile Device Center website and download and install that software. You should restart your laptop when the installation is done.
- Launch the Windows Mobile Device Center from the Start menu after the reboot has taken place. Hover over Mobile Device Settings and select Connections Settings.
- Click on the dropdown menu under "Allow connections to one of the following" and select DMA. Click OK.
- Run the "Pocket PC Cold Boot" from the Emulator.
- Double-click the installation program for the Pocket PC program that you want installed.
