Very nice guy, his bid was within my price range. He is overbooked and works as a subcontractor on new builds. He fits smaller jobs in around his regular work and that can cause quality problems. He doesn't like to say "NO," so he will tell you they can do things they CANNOT. Don't be in a hurry and I think you can get them to do the job right at an affordable price. He personally laid some bamboo flooring - it was done well. No floor leveling was required as it was a long closet under a stairwell. I do not know if they know how to level floors, because they did not need to do it on this job. His tile guy did a nice job of laying the tile in the bathroom, it was level. However, there was insufficient grout [which didn't show until it dried - because it looked liked it filled the grooves when wet] which meant the edges of the tile cut your feet and that had to be redone. He replaced my tub and faucet. I had a similar problem with a cut in the drywall as the other reviewer, at the very edge of the tub surround (not over a stud) that made the drywall edges unconnected--I (myself) had to cover over opening with tile thereby bridging the gap between the two pieces of drywall and that worked! The biggest problem was related to the install of the new tub faucet. When I talked with him, he indicated he could do plumbing. However, after waiting for the grout to dry in the tub surround, I found that the faucet was not working properly and called them back. They had glued the new faucet inside the wall with some kind of contact cement (instead of soldering it as required) and the glue had gotten down into the faucet part and was preventing the control over the flow of the water. That was when he told me that if I really needed a plumber I should have hired one. We had clearly miscommunicated, as I believed I had verified that with him verbally when initially talking about the job and getting a bid. I had drawn up a written contract, and I failed to state there in that the plumbing must be done by a licensed plumber. I take responsibility for not making sure he had a plumber on his crew -- he does not. I did have to cut into the wall, hire a plumber, $400, and buy a second new shower faucet ($100), and a new tub drain ($20), and I hired a tiler to reinstall tile ($150) and it looked okay. What I learned -- you need to hang around and intervene if you see something going awry. They do have the ability to do a great job for you on flooring and tile - Make sure they level the floor if it is not leveled. Do not give your final approval (or last payment) until it is all dry and you have inspected it thoroughly. DO NOT HIRE THEM FOR PLUMBING WORK, they aren't plumbers, they do not have the skill set to do that, and at last check, they did not have a plumber subcontractor. His carpet subcontractors were excellent--they did a large room and a flight of stairs, and two years later the work was still tight and looking good. So, yes, hire them for floors and tile keeping, in mind that both I and the other reviewer had certain identical problems - make sure those are done correctly before the tile or flooring covers them over. I believe as he gets more experience, he will be more careful of the details, because he does want you to be happy with his work. ...read more

We hired them to replace our tub, tile a surround, floor of bath & laundry, and install faucets. Quoted completion time of 2 days. Upon completion there were uneven edges that were jagged and unfinished. The floor tiles were not flat and had sharp edges. During the install of the drywall and backer board, they cut through the wall and into the room that backs up to the bath. We had to install a plastic impregnated wood shoe mold around the tile. The new faucet allowed water to flow from the head, with the tub on independently & the water would not run cold. The drain was not flush in the tub and water was not draining. We had to hire a plumber. The tub drain was installed wrong, the PEX tubing had a kink in it. The drain was not screwed in all the way, the gasket was upside down and it was off center (water not going down the drain, just onto the cement). 2k might not be much to him, we were sold on spending the 2k for a 2 day lead time, and that 2 days took 51 days. ...read more
