This was the second home that my husband and I have built and I have to say the communication with buying this home was not as forthcoming as it was with our first home. Several things weren’t disclosed to us and were completely missed even being offered as options that we came to find out about after we had closed on our home. The lack of warranty requests being taken care of in a timely manner or even at all has caused us to have no faith in that process. Being told that something is going to be taken care of, then not hearing back from anyone for weeks and having to check back in yourself to see what is going on to then find out that what was said previously has been forgotten and now is not going to occur leaves the homeowner in limbo and holding little faith in the builder/warranty personnel who came out and gave false hope that the homeowners request would be taken care of. We had a few hiccups during the building process and before closing and after closing. There has to be more effort put into the customer that is spending so much money on their home and going to live there for who knows how long. So giving them all of the options and showing them all of the things that are and aren’t included in their home is beneficial. To say the least, we are in our home. More communication and disclosure about little things from the builder would have been better. We had to prod the sales consultant and builder for everything not the other way around. My parents bought a First Texas Home about 10 years ago. I always enjoyed the layout and size of the home, and almost bought it from them when they sold it. But, I am actually glad I waited and bought a new one. These new homes are amazing!! Smart home features, energy saving technology, awesome flooring and counter top choices. My family is having so much fun with all the new stuff. I can't believe I went from a 1500 square foot home, to over 3400 square foot home, and my utility bills are half of what I used to pay for.
