When I first started taking karate here I quickly came to realize that the physical workouts Miss Judy lead are a great way to get and stay in shape. The warmup exercises can't be beat because they are all done in a way to maximize your endurance, flexibility, and strength and all students are encouraged to push themselves to their own individual level so they don't overdo it. The main portion of the classes consist of learning kicks, punches, combos, sparring, self defense, katas, etc. You would think that all of those things are meant to build your strength but I am finding out that my self confidence and concentration are getting the biggest boost! My 6 yr old son is also getting all the same benefits I am getting plus he is making new friends. Miss Judy has them learning alot of great things but they think they are just having fun! I am thrilled with the work Action Karate has done in my 7 year old daughter's life. She's only been going to AKS for 6 months, yet her confidence and self-discipline has sky-rocketed since going. Miss Judy loves her job, and she has a big heart for the kids. She's like a milder Jillian Michaels. She's no-nonsense; she's passionate and firm about her profession; she tells the kids she pushes them because she knows that they can do the work. And they do.
