I had the distinct displeasure of renting a property from Icon Real Estate, which became, in late winter 2016, Kudos Real Estate. Short story is: do not rent from them. Longer story: my rental had a major interior leak from the roof that I reported, but which went unaddressed for SEVEN MONTHS, and was only “fixed” because I reported them to L&I. It was fixed about 2 days before L&I would have taken them to court. The work was not done by a contractor, as was required, but by a handyman (who they never paid), and the underlying issues were never addressed. I’m sure the current tenant is having the same issues. There were other issues that went unrepaired for periods from weeks to months: no bathroom door, kitchen sink that poured water out of the cabinet because a pipe wasn’t property attached, a broken washing machine, and a basement that got inches of water every time it rained. The house also had termites that were never addressed. To add insult to injury, the office falsely claimed I had paid my rent late twice, and THEY returned my deposit to me 2 weeks late (landlords must return deposits within 30 days of the date you vacated the property/returned keys). There are scores of other tenants who have had similar or much worse complaints. Icon/Kudos form limited liability companies for each home, using the address as the name of the company (2222 Fernon is 2222 FERNON LLC.)
