How to Find Real Estate Property Listings
Attempting to find the perfect piece of real estate to purchase can be overwhelming. Fortunately, there are a couple of places to look at property listings that take a lot of the legwork out by providing lot size, square footage and other features.
- Look online. There are several large websites that feature real estate listings for properties all over the world. Many local real estate companies also have all listings available for online viewing. Set up a personalized search criteria at these websites and opt to receive an email when new listings appear.
- Contact a realtor. Most realtors will gladly email you with available listings. Once they have a feel of what you're looking for, they contact you about new listings they think you might be interested in as soon as they hit the market, sometimes even before.
- Look in print. Many areas have real estate market guides published each month that list all available properties. Also check your local paper. Real estate listings are available in the classified section. Many papers also have a special real estate section inserted on weekends.
- Drive around. If you are in love with a particular neighborhood or want to see what is on the market, take a leisurely drive. Look for "sale" signs in yards and in front of retail spaces. Bring a pen and notebook to jot down addresses and phone numbers displayed on the signs.
- Network. Tell people you are looking to purchase. You never know who might lead you to the perfect property.
