Before I finally sold, I had bed bugs so bad not even Orkin could get rid of them after three tries. Two of my immediate neighbors also had them but were in total denial and did nothing. So they endured the sores they explained away as allergies. An edlerly couple across the complex also complained (but this is hearsay since I never spoke to them myself).
